General Summary: The Associate Designer will serve as the backbone of the Advanced Concept Design team. Possessing natural curiosity and acting as sponge for knowledge, the ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail and a keen eye for discovering the latest fashion technologies and innovations.
This position reports into the Director, Advanced Concept Design (Aro).
What you’ll do:
Participates in the conceptual development of advanced product design.
Assists in ensuring that product is consistent with future-oriented trends as well as business strategy.
Responsible for specing a new design.
Works with technical designer and pre-production partner to ensure design packages are complete and accurate.
Responsible for details on design of product to include preparing, maintaining and updating sketches and specifications.
Coordinates sample production process to ensure that samples are produced and delivered on a timely basis.
Attend and support fittings and give concise feedback to technical designer
Create and present design boards
Assists in fabric and trim development.
Qualifications:
College degree in Fashion Design or related field.
2 to 4 years design experience.
General computer knowledge; ability to learn how to design through new/advanced technology (e.g., on-line spec program).
CAD proficiency - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and/or CAD software a must
Strong organizational skills - proficiency in Microsoft applications
Exposure to a PLM preferred.
Solid understanding of design process.
Solid flat sketching skills.
Good design and color sense.
Ability to think three-dimensionally and to visualize from swatch to body.
Solid understanding of product construction (e.g., finishes, fabrics, hardware, stitches, safety requirements, etc.).
Knowledge of fit model and standard measurements.Time management / communication skills.
