Director, Visual Merchandising, MAC Travel Retail Worldwide

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary role of the Regional Director of Visual Merchandising (Travel Retail) is to develop key merchandising strategy’s and to oversee the development, training and execution of Merchandising guidelines and communication for the Travel Retail region, ensuring consistency and high visual standards that are representative of the brand image. To align strategically both regionally and worldwide the visual merchandising directive for MAC.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Strategize with MAC VP/GM and Marketing to develop VM initiatives that address market business needs and enhance consumer experience in Travel Retail environments.
• Partner with Marketing and MAC VP/GM to plan Visualization Calendars for Travel Retail.
• Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to determine when to participate in Enhanced Merchandising programs and which stores it can work in. This also includes creating elevations for each store participating, to determine placement.
• Liaise with Travel Retail Sales and Marketing Teams and Global Visual Merchandising on recommendations for enhancing sell thru and execution of new launches and basic business.
• Partner with all departments (Sales, Marketing, Sales Ops, Retail Events, etc.) to ensure 360 programs are executed properly and information is cascaded across all functions.
• Strong partnership with MAC Global Visual Merchandising and Marketing to facilitate creation of new assets.
• Develop new door merchandising layouts and work with Store Design on merchandising schematics for all locations
• Develop and conduct Merchandising Workshops and Training Sessions.
• Communicate regularly and maintain positive working relationships with Global Visual Merchandising department and Regional VM/SD Directors.
• Oversee Regional sourcing, production and execution of new VM initiatives and collateral, including guideline books, in-store visuals (Enhanced Merchandising, store hours signage, etc) and window programs.
• Support Regional VM with TR store database maintenance, ensuring its always up to date with most recent floor plans / elevations, store photos, customized elements orders, artwork, etc.
• Manage Regional Visual Merchandising team and hold bi-weekly check in calls, and monthly group call.
• Maintain consistently high visual standards through regular store visits, conference calls and recap documents.
• Assist with key new store openings.
• Support Regional VM in the implementation of Retail and Special Events when necessary.
• Assist with the production of renderings of various visual projects when necessary.
• Initiate TR specific requests on behalf of regions, with Global brand approval.
• Vet visual merchandising CRQS before submitting to Creative Services.
• Maintain and update open sell and play table store layouts templates to reflect lineup updates.
• Partner with Marketing on lineup strategies for MAC’s open sell system.
• Work with Creative Services on play table and open sell elements forecasting.
Qualifications
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• BA or BFA preferred
• 8+ years related experience with retail merchandising or related field experience preferred
• Knowledge of computer programs including the Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), MS Office
• Strong organization and prioritization skills
• Ability to Travel up to 50% of the time
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
• Ability to communicate with Associates at different levels.
• Ability to self- manage and work well independently
• Deadline oriented and possesses superior organizational skills in a fast paced environment
• Understanding of current fashion/retail trends
