Club Monaco: Director, Women's Wovens

Overview
Oversee the design of woven pieces, including research, technical spec packages, presentations and all necessary follow-up. The designer is responsible for designing for each season, along with continual add ins.
Responsibilities
Research
• Develop initial concepts for line working closely with VP of Women’s Design
• Research trends in line, creates inspirational trend boards for your area
• Research leathers, fabrics, trims, hardware pieces and other raw materials, working closely with Fabric R&D
• Choose suitable material for each individual style
• Develop color palettes by style, and approve lab-dips
• Purchase inspirational samples for collection
Design
• Responsible for design and direction in woven’s
• Provide designs that reflect the trends, but also which reflect the integrity and aesthetics of the Club Monaco brand
• Prepare technical sketches and spec detailing for Production team, including front and back sketch, construction details, illustration, material(s), trims, hardware spec
• Prepare Spec sheets with detailed technical information
• Manage Senior Designers to Assistant Designers, design boards, trim sheets
Development/Follow-Up
• Work closely with the Production team throughout the development process to ensure the highest level of quality and integrity
• Collaborate with Merchants in development of line
• Review samples and provide Fit Comments to Production team
• Attending fittings and communicating changes
• Review fit / construction in order to fit into necessary price points
• Review Merchandise Plans and maintain calendar timing
• Communicate pertinent design information to PR and Visual departments
• Monitor sales and retail sell-through to determine successes and failures, and to build on this knowledge for future collections
• Manage issues for your area with CFT to insure timely resolution, keeping VP up-to-date
• Follow thru on all details, fabric, style, trim for area
Skills and Requirements
• Minimum eight years experience in design
• Computer proficiency in MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word
• Excellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environment
• Excellent English communication skills - verbal and written
• Excellent time management/project skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detail
• Ability to recognize and react to changing work demands
• Comfortable and confident in making effective autonomous (and group) decisions in a timely manner
• Goal orientated: ability to stay focused on creating winning results
• Strong illustration and flat sketching skills
• Technical knowledge of fabric construction, finishes and techniques
