Set Styling
Program Overview
The Set Styling Internship program is designed to provide an overview of the Set Styling role. Through this Internship, you'll gain experience by working with Set Stylists as they prep, dress and strike assigned shows. The Set Styling Internship provides you with a unique opportunity to style sets in a studio environment for live television broadcast, providing insight on how sets are styled for various products in retail television.
A Day in the Life
Achieve HSN's internship program global objectives
• Understand the company's mission and strategy and develop an understanding of how the global plan helps define business unit strategy and goals.
• Develop an understanding of divisional organizational structure and the cross-functional relationships that the business unit has with other parts of the business.
• Learn how to review all support material listed in the notes.
Overview of the Internship Opportunity:
• Learns how to attend the visual needs of the show from day to day
• Assists in researching current trends in fashion, interior design, etc
• Learns how to maintain resource library for sets department
• Learns how to maintain and track prop inventory
Keys to Success
Must Haves
• Working towards an undergraduate degree in a related field preferred
• Interested in pursuing a career in a design related field
• Intermediate level knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
• Knowledge and understanding of basic design principles.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to build and maintain good working relationships with a diverse group of individuals and personalities
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Works either individually or as part of a team.
• Must be able to comprehend, read, learn, and understand instruction both written and oral
• 8 to 12 weeks at minimum, depending upon length of semester
Physical Requirements
• Climb ladders - must be comfortable with heights
• Lift, pull or push items over 35 lbs or more.
• Packaging/un-packaging items
• Stand for extending periods of time
• Use of hands or fingers to handle/feel objects tools or controls
• Reach with arms, Balance, Kneel, Crouch, or Crawl
• Ability to adjust and focus sight - Close, Distant, Peripheral, Depth vision
