Description
The Regional Design Program Director has a proven record of leading programs in a creative consumer product environment. The ideal candidate will be well versed in managing a portfolio of projects for an in-house brand, with knowledge of consumer marketing and retail design/visual merchandising. In this role, the Regional Design Program Director acts as the scoping lead for the Region’s portfolio of design-related projects, including content for digital, social, and print and visual merchandising and store design for Free-Standing Stores, Department Stores, and Open Sell environments. The Regional Program Director helps the project managers see the big picture and assist in coordinating their efforts to ensure the entire program is delivered on time while meeting resource, budget, and scope constraints. This role reports directly to the Regional ED of Creative and works closely with the Global Design PMO.
The Program Director works closely with the Global teams to adapt Global project deliverables for regional relevance and is responsible for reporting metrics back to Global.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Management
Planning, Analyzing, and Evaluating:
• Work closely with project sponsor, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives.
• Determine if external contractors or vendors will be required to complete the plan. Act as a liaison between the internal Clinique team and outside vendors for new projects.
• Identify key dependencies needed from cross-functional teams and external vendors; work with other program managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department.
Monitoring and Reporting:
• Oversee and own the master Regional Clinique Design Projects Portfolio Tracker from initiation to closure; document serves as the single source of truth for status on all design-related projects for the region.
• Drive aspects of the governance process including monitoring and reporting out program and project status, major issues/risks requiring escalation, and enforcing project constraints (schedule/scope/resources).
• Monitor and manage scope by ensuring any changes are documented, prioritized, approved and reported to all business teams and stakeholders.
• Manage creative/copy and external agency teams to ensure deliverable specifications are met and delivered on time.
• Conduct weekly project portfolio reviews with Creative and Marketing teams to align all stakeholders on priorities and schedule.
• Develop and manage budget for projects and be accountable for delivering against established business goals/objectives.
• Resolve escalated business issues and remove productivity barriers.
• Assist the project manager(s) in overflow situations.
Closing:
• Conduct post-project reviews with all stakeholders to analyze project successes and opportunities for improvements.
Global Guidelines:
• Understand Global guidelines and best practices for content and visual merchandising execution.
• Maintain and grow relationship with Global to leverage SOPs; champion Global best practices.
• Conduct retrospectives and report metrics back to Global including number of projects executed, assets utilized, resources utilized, number of approval rounds, estimated and actual time spent on projects, and estimated and actual cost to implement projects.
Financial and Administrative:
• Manage cross-project dependencies, prioritizing and coordinating shared resources.
• Monitor all internal and external costs for assigned programs.
• Reviews WIPs and final billing reports.
• Monitor through CPES and Workfront the flow of comprehensive program budgets / estimates to the appropriate area for approval prior to proceeding with project; monitoring costs to insure they are within the overall budget plan.
• Participate in monthly finance budget meetings and update finance team on monthly spend.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Marketing, Advertising, or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in program management for an in-house creative team.
• Experience in integrated content marketing and retail design/visual merchandising preferred.
• PMI Certification and familiarity with Agile Methodologies (or certification) preferred.
• Well versed in executing a portfolio of campaigns across multiple platforms.
• Great program management abilities.
• Self-motivated and willing to expand knowledge.
• Experience working with internal and external teams to develop and negotiate project scopes and budgets.
• Ability to self-manage while managing assigned teams and projects under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; MS Project and/or other project management tools preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues at various levels.
