We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Designer Manager to join our innovative TOPSHOP team
As a Design Manager at TOPSHOP you will be working to ensure we are first in identifying emerging trends, and translating these into fashion stories our customers will love and believe in. You will work closely with the Buying teams and our Suppliers to ensure you capture the season’s must-have pieces to excite and delight the customer.
What You Will Be Doing Day To Day
• Working with the Head of Design, other Design Managers and Creative Director to ensure there is a strong and consistent product direction.
• Defines and communicates a clear vision for the future and translates this into understandable goals and targets.
• Develops in-depth understanding of trends required to inspire seasonal key looks at key points throughout the calendar year that are presented to both Design & Buying team to drive product development.
• Build a strong team by inspiring and nurturing the development of all direct reports.
• Displays an in-depth, customer-focused knowledge of market and trends.
• Regularly review processes within Design to continually drive improvements and ensure maximum efficiency and high performance.
• Strong management that provides both support and clear direction for the team.
• Acts as key point of contact for design briefs ensuring the smooth flow of work for the team.
• Support with organising the design workflow, planning and implementing the best approach.
• Supports with the management of the design budget ensuring all work is within cost constraints.
Developing a High Performing Team
• With support of the Senior Management Team, defines and communicates a clear vision of the future and translates this into understandable goals and targets
• Provides positive leadership supporting the brand strategy and encourages others to do so.
• Proactively manages both high and poor performance

• Builds and maintains a strong, varied network of contacts and communicates with all to achieve win-win situations.
• Presents with authority and professionalism at all times.
• Tailors communication appropriately both upwards and downwards – recognising when to challenge and when to listen.
Must Haves
• Extremely creative with a strong design background
• Have experience in working on varied product area
• Experience of managing a team of Designers
• Combination of an innovative approach with commercial ideas
• Capacity to build strong working relationships – both internal and external
• Experience of operating in a dynamic, constantly evolving environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills – particularly in verbal communication
• Enthusiasm, energy, passion and flair
• A determination to make things happen and achieve results
• Confidence to influence key areas of the business, e.g. Creative, Buying, Senior management
