A BIT ABOUT
Operating at the heart of our business, Shared Services offer efficiencies to all of our Brands by providing centralised resources and competitive synergies for the Group. The Shared Services teams work across all Brands and are responsible for a huge range of activities from delivering product to over 30 countries worldwide, to achieving award winning store designs and handling 100,000 Customer Care calls each year. Within Shared Services there are over 1,000 employees working across 16 distinctive departments including IT, Finance, HR, Logistics, PR, Property, Digital and Purchasing.
THE ROLE
The Group Purchasing team consists of Category specialists and generalists responsible for a wide variety of non-fashion Procurement. Reporting to a Purchasing Manager, the Buyer plays a key role in the team with responsibility for sourcing, negotiating contracts, achieving saving targets, general category management, working cross-functionally with key stakeholders, and managing key supplier relationships to deliver best value for all the brands in the business.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
Category Management
• Problem solving through spend analysis, business needs, key trends internally and externally to create and develop current and future category opportunities.
• Develop category and market knowledge to support the execution of the category strategy.
• Responsible for contributing to the annual Purchasing savings targets through an allocated individual target, maximising leverage, and minimising the total cost of ownership and commercial risks.
• Creating annual category strategies which are supported by a robust implementation plan
Sourcing
• Managing the supplier selection and sourcing process for IT projects as well as negotiating commercial and contractual terms which represent best value to Arcadia.
• Create tenders, build contract documentation with limited guidance and have a clear understanding of the contractual implications for all terms contained within final contract.
• Contribute to or create robust business cases which set out available options and TCO for the business and makes recommendations for the categories and suppliers managed.
Contract Management
• Manage a portfolio of allocated IT contracts via the contracts management database ensuring best practice techniques are applied and maximum value is derived to positively reduce operating cost of the business.
• Ensure contracts database is well managed ensuring sourcing and negotiation needs for new contracts are entered into in goodtime.
• Work with cost centre owners to qualify requirements and challenge the continued need in advance of contract expiry.
Supplier Management
• Host regular supplier relationship management meetings bringing in the wider Arcadia user community and becoming the main POC for the supplier.
• Provide strategic insight to the wider Purchasing team and stakeholder community by having a regular dialogue with allocated supplier relationships.
Stakeholder Management
• Work collaboratively with the business and manage key stakeholder relationships appropriately
• Work strategically and cross functionally to understand the latest strategic objectives and technological aspirations of the business.
MUST HAVES
• Purchasing professional with proven experience, preferably in a large / medium size dynamic company with a significant purchasing spend.
• CIPS level 4 and above is advantageous but not essential. CIPS sponsorship is available.
• An excellent understanding of the full purchasing lifecycle and how Procurement positively influences this process
• Excellent tender and contract writing skills.
• IT literate with specific experience in negotiating complex IT deals (Cloud services preferable)
• A motivated, hunter-gatherer, able to network with colleagues and stakeholders across the Arcadia Group in order to work effectively in cross functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, particularly in negotiation, working with and influencing others.
• Proactive and results orientated.
• Able to manage their own time and priorities.
