GENERAL SUMMARY:
Gap Greater China is the primary growth market for Gap Inc., covering all channels of business in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Our first stores opened in 2010, with two in Shanghai, and two in Beijing, and we grew our online presence concurrently, launching Gap.cn and Tmall sites. Gap reached 100 stores faster than its competitors and is on pace to deliver its first profitable year well in advance of the competition. Gap is represented in China by Gap Specialty, Gap Outlet and Old Navy brands.
The Buyer, Greater China will be a key member of the Greater China IM Team driving fully integrated assortment and investment strategies linked to financial Top Down Merchandise Financial Plans
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Deliver fully integrated investments at style / cc level tied to Top Down Merchandise Financial Plans
• Buyers need to be completely connected and accountable to the Greater China Gap business and relentlessly focused on delivering what the customer needs for their respective divisions
• Represent Greater China in Strategic Vision of the Line discussions in NYC (SVLs) prior to Line Creation linked to the in-market briefs from Associate Merchandising Manager, Greater China based in Shanghai
• Deliver against the Greater China P&L across all metrics (sales, margin, inventory turns, and EBIT)
• Represent the buying point of view during all hindsight and midsight meetings
• Participate in quarterly Investment Reviews meeting cross functionally with the Shanghai team
• Participate in all Product 3.0 & Operating Model evolutions including team integrations, system launches and training, and process mapping
• Manage bottoms up forecast to the financial OTB and forecasts monthly, report out on any risks and opportunities
• Recap weekly performance and best sellers and communicate comp and plan variances. Build weekly, monthly, quarterly hindsights
• Develop intimate and real knowledge of the Greater China market through fully realized market visits (quarterly)
• Own the bottoms up process for Greater China for their division, full accountability to merchandise KPI’s
• Lead Assistant Buyers (if applicable)
