A dynamic and growing men’s grooming company with a great brand and a tremendous future is seeking an amazing Director of Engineering to manage a team of talented engineers developing high performance products. We seek a strong teambuilder, able to instill project management practices, promote a culture that strives to be the best and institute engineering best practices. The candidate we seek should have prior high volume consumer products / consumer goods experience and a desire to build a foundation for future growth.
Essential Functions and Skills
• Run engineering development and innovation for multiple projects.You will lead small teams of engineers building products under tight deadlines. You will be expected to have an eye to understand the details of these projects so that their architecture is well thought-through, their design is superb, the choice of technologies is correct for products to perform at the highest levels. Maintain a clear focus and mindset on delivering high performing, men’s grooming products that delight our customers
• Architect of new products and platforms.You will be responsible for leading the teams that are taking product requirements, marketing data, consumer feedback, functional specs and turn those into a market leading products
• Scope timelines and budgets. We will be dependent on you to scope your projects correctly, provide realistic and dependable timelines, identify key risks to success, mitigation strategies for those risks, and accurate costs that allow us to plan our business.
• Maintain timelines and deliverables. Put simply: deliver what you promise in the time you promise with the expected quality at the expected price.
• Identify, evaluate, and select new technologies. You will be expected to continuously evaluate new technologies, and to select those you think will best serve consumer needs. Participate in product brainstorming and ideation
• Develop and maintain Product Development and Innovation Strategies. You will be responsible for identifying the tools, capabilities, resources and facilities to help the organization’s perception and behavior as a partner of choice.
• Coordinate internal and external resources. You will identify relevant opportunities to our customers thus driving the company's long term goals and strategies.
• Maintain a Technology road map for the company. Collaborate cross functionally to identify relevant new technologies to enable strengthening of current market position and identify disruptive opportunities.
Requirements
• Experience in men’s grooming products a plus
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in the managing of technical resources.
• Capable of directing cross-functional multi-disciplined teams
• Ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of internal and external personnel and skill sets is essential.
• Ability to demonstrate innovation and creativity grounded in expert knowledge of engineering, physical sciences, and technology integration for men’s grooming products
• Ability to thoroughly understand patents and the Intellectual Property Landscape for men’s grooming products
• Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and technical expertise
• Expert knowledge of precision grinding, high accuracy instrumentation, coatings, plastic materials and processes, automated assembly equipment and the capability to communicate and educate this knowledge to others.
• Ability to develop and execute complete manufacturing strategies across multiple sites.
• Ability to partner and to collaborate with people at all levels - individual engineers, managers, and executives.
• Ability to influence and build buy-in to product/process changes and the investment of resources.
• Willing and able to travel as needed - domestic and international.
