Job Description
POSITION TITLE: Senior Buyer
POSITION PURPOSE:
Ensure the development, execution and communication of a strategy that meets or exceeds financial goals. Support and direct the cross-functional teams of Buying, Planning, Production and Distribution. Responsible for the development of direct reports. The Senior Buyer is a Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM) in training role, therefore the responsibilities are the same, but the scope of responsibility is less in volume and/or complexity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure the financial success of area by meeting or exceeding financial targets including sales, GM, and turn goals. Lead and participate in weekly sales recaps to the DM and Director of Planning. Analyze sales daily to determine promotional strategies. Analyze sales trends, historical data and distribution results at a department/classification level. Identify and recommend big ideas as well as key item, merchandising, distribution and promotional strategies. Partner with the licensee to edit the line while upholding corporate objectives and goals. Partner with Planning to determine quantities, retails, store tiers, and receipt flows. Present assortment to Management for approval after appropriate analysis is completed. Review sales performance and marketplace information to identify and analyze sales trends and business opportunities. Analyze OTB to determine monthly sales forecast with planner, review receipt reconciliation for accuracy; take action as necessary to increase sales and control inventory levels. Recommend changes to future order quantities, deliveries, pricing or markdown strategies. Communicate with Licensees to add new product or make changes to future product based on current sales.
Maintain expert knowledge of customer base by participating in store visits. Evaluate product placement execution; get customer and store associate feedback. Participate in competitive analysis of both direct competitors and stores we look to for trend inspiration by shopping their stores to evaluate product assortments, quality, pricing, merchandising strategies and business opportunities.
Work with Visual teams to determine product placement within the store by delivery and store group. Monitor development and performance of direct reports through regular meetings to discuss performance and development compared to goals, and maintain a dialogue regarding needs and concerns to aid in future development and increase retention.
Manage cross-functional team relationships on an on-going basis by directing and focusing team objectives. Provide direction on strategy, vision, and meetings, to unify team towards a common goal. Act as a role model and provide leadership within the Buying Division by directing, focusing and inspiring team members to keep efforts on track. Participate as needed on special projects within the division, brand or company
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 4-6 Years
