All the hot fashion found in our Nordstrom stores, at the Rack and online comes through our Seattle-based Nordstrom Merchandising Group. These fashion-savvy trendsetters work together to make sure we have the right merchandise in the right place at the right time and in the right quantities. They keep our customers coming back for more!
As a Nordstrom Merchandising and Planning intern, you’ll play a dual role: dedicated student and valued team member.
As an intern, you’ll…
• Be assigned to a specific buying group and participate as a member of the team
• Develop an understanding of the needs, wants and expectations of the customer
• Be a student of the business regarding effective analysis and decision making to improve department performance
• Attend buy meetings with vendors and our buying teams to get an up-close view of the retail fashion industry that you won’t find in a classroom
• Attend merchant classes so you can contribute in the buying office
• Get behind-the-scenes tours of various support and eCommerce centers
• Work on an independent impact project to present to the buying and leadership teams
• Attend executive speaker events with plenty of opportunities to ask questions
• Experience our Anniversary Sale from both the buying office and selling floor perspective
You own this if you…
• Are an active college student enrolled in an accredited institution and working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Business, or related field, and will graduate in 2017 or 2018
• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2
• Are able to commit to a full-time schedule
• Are able to move to Seattle for the duration of the 10-week summer internship
• Are looking for a career that pairs your business expertise with your love of fashion
• Have strong business acumen and math skills and the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions
• Build great relationships through stellar communication and follow-through
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment thanks to your ace organizational skills and ability to quickly learn new processes and procedures
• Are willing to move to Seattle if accepted into the Merchant in Training Program upon completion of the internship.
