Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
• The position is responsible for researching trends. Ideation of new concepts and creating compelling garments to meet the brand aesthetic. The Apparel Design Manager works with the Design Director and the apparel/accessories team to ensure that each garment meets the categories product brief and the seasonal design directions set by the Creative Director and Senior management team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage Business (Processes and projects)
• Manage designers in their daily work and ensure they meet deadlines and deliverables
Manage and Develop People
• Mentor designers on the entire team, even those who are not direct reports.
• Be a leader to all those in the department.
• Write and deliver goals and performance reviews to direct reports under the guidance of the director
Reebok Design Cycle
• Resolve issues with the team relating to design, staff performance, or cross-functional problems and escalate them to the Directors as needed.
Continue do to do job functions of a Sr. Designer but at much reduced level, including the following items:
Technical Communications
• Sketch designs and produce line art to communicate design concepts, including multiple views and details sketches as necessary.
• Assist Director in creating material and trim “toolbox boards” to consolidate selections each season.
• Create and maintain art files and transfer correct information to cross functional teams and other international design centres.
• Create tech packs and other materials to hand-off to development for sample manufacturing.
• Ability to illustrate designs and concepts as hand sketches and line art; fashion illustration a plus.
• Style designs (2nd and 3rd) for senior management presentations.
• Ability to present designs, concepts and seasonal stories to all levels of the organization and across various departments.
Creativity
• Provide design/concepts boards to communicate design and seasonal direction.
• Create supporting artwork that illustrate design concepts and tell stories to the Marketing, Merchandising and Sales teams.
• Identify new or innovative concepts, materials, manufacturing processes, etc.
• Respond to design critique with multiple solutions.
Reebok Design
• Design collections the parameters provided by design management that take into account cost, style, fit, fabric, trims, constructions, ad technology.
• Work with the category to understand market needs and design to product briefs for both brand driving and commercial product.
• Select materials and trims used in the product designs.
• Design function and technology into product while still designing to cost.
• Knowledge of garment construction, draping and fitting techniques.
• Identify problems and develop solutions of innovative approaches to the design and development of sports and/or sports-inspired apparel/accessories.
• Resolve costing/Margin issues
• Knowledge of costing and the impacts of design and development on margin.
Market and Consumer Acumen
• Keep abreast of market trends and consumer needs and how they relate to the Reebok brand
Reebok Design Cycle
• Attend and contribute in a fit prototype review sessions
Manage Business (Processes and Projects)
• Suggest ways in which new or innovative concepts, materials, manufacturing processes, etc. could improve the overall processes and positively impact the team.
• Ability to manage more junior members´ workload and timelines as needed and escalate deadline issues to the Director
Manage and Develop People
• Mentor more junior designers and team members, including garment construction, draping and fitting techniques.

Requite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:
• 7+ years of apparel/accessories design experience.
• Advanced level in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop a plus.
• Knowledge of garment construction, garment fit and costing.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
• Strong Presentations and Storytelling skills and the ability to mentor more junior designers in this area.
• Bachelor’s degree in fashion or apparel/accessories design.
• Prior management of team leadership experience.
