Responsibilities and Qualifications
This position will be responsible for all aspects of Vista Outdoor’s tax aspects of the company’s global business operations. The position is responsible for tax accounting, compliance, planning, audit, transfer pricing and M&A. The Tax Director will be responsible to provide tax advice to upper management and the Board of Directors.
Vista Outdoor is looking for a leader to partner with management and other key stakeholders to maintain a high standard of tax compliance, reporting and planning. Vista Outdoor has tax operations throughout the world encompassing all direct and indirect tax issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• 10 plus years of related corporate or public accounting experience
• Expert knowledge of ASC 740 required
• Experience managing tax department
• Ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Masters degree in accounting/tax or JD, preferred
• CPA, preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
(Fundamental duties necessary to achieve the objective of the position.)
• Lead all aspects of Tax Department including strategy, management of the team, budgeting, etc.
• Provide strategic and tactical advice on the tax impacts of business activities, M&A, proposed / implemented law changes, and other strategies.
• Coordinate with other departments to accurately represent the tax positions of the company
• Maintain open communications to understand business changes and determine their impact on the tax position of the company
• Completion of annual and interim tax provision
• Manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors
• Identification and implementation of tax planning strategies
• Global tax compliance and filing of Federal, State and Local tax returns
• Coordination and filing of foreign tax returns
• Management of federal, state and foreign audits
• Oversight of indirect taxes including property and sales and use tax returns
• Assist with merger, acquisition, and disposition activities
• Review, analyze, and interpret existing and proposed tax laws for the impact to the company
• Tax department liaison/subject matter expert on tax issues to other departments within the business
