Job Overview
Keurig Dr Pepper is seeking to hire a Director of Labor Relations who will be part of the Labor Relations team. This position can be remote and will require travel, primarily on the East Coast, to our plants and warehouses.
What you will do:
• Serves as first-chair spokesperson for operating units in contract negotiations and other dealings with local unions, including the Teamsters, UFCW, and UAW.
• Coordinates with local management and HR, corporate pension and benefits specialists, and senior leadership in preparing negotiation strategy and proposals to determine feasibility, cost, effects on operations and relationship to prevailing trends in the industry and the geographic area.
• In consultation with the VP of Labor Relations and others, as appropriate, drafts contract language and proposals with an eye towards achieving consistency and uniformity with corporate policies and practices.
• Advises local HR managers and management personnel in administering contracts and labor relations policies/practices that are in compliance with federal/state laws, organization policies/practices, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Independently manages and directs responses to union organizing activity and coordinates union election campaigns, including training of management personnel, interfacing with unions and NLRB, and litigating objections and ULP charges before the NLRB.
• Actively participates in the development and implementation of a broad, well-balanced and effective labor relations strategy, including developing and implementing union-free training and proactive strategies to respond to union organizing.
• First chair responsibility for grievances and labor arbitrations, responding to NLRB charges, and/or oversight of outside counsel, as appropriate, in such matters.
• Coordinates with in-house legal counsel, payroll, EHS, and benefits specialists on implementation of policies and procedures in union locations.
• Must be fully prepared to independently research and respond to sophisticated and complex labor relations and employment law issues in a time sensitive and client service oriented environment.
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of applicable labor and employment laws and regulations at the state and federal level, including the NLRA, FLSA, Title VII, ADA and FMLA.
• This position may be home-based or in a company facility in the eastern U.S. Travel is approximately 50%.
• Follow all Keurig Dr Pepper policies and procedures.
Requirements
What you must have:
• Minimum of six (6) years’ experience negotiating and administering collective bargaining agreements, including first chair experience in negotiations, labor arbitrations and grievance proceedings, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience practicing before the NLRB, including participation in unfair labor practice hearings and Board-conducted elections.
• Law degree or Master’s in Labor Relations preferred but not required.
