General Summary:
This role will be responsible for the development of the future network technology structure and defining the long term strategic direction and architectural design of Campbell’s Global Enterprise Network Infrastructure. It will build a strong and prioritized plan utilizing emerging technologies in order to deliver against IT Data Network Services strategy and ensure strategic, design, architecture, and engineering standards are created, updated, and applied throughout the Global Network Services organization. Manage the Global Network Services team and lead various transformative Network initiatives (Network redesign, infrastructure upgrades, new build outs), both strategic and tactical in nature, that will address most important challenges including scalability, reliability, and the performance requirements for the digital business applications and an improved end-user experience for the global user community at Campbell’s. This role will report into the Director-Infrastructure and Operations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Interpret business strategy and develop organizational objectives to align with network strategy. Provide escalation resolution and necessary communications across IT, including to senior leadership whenever possible. Oversee the administration, health, lifecycle management, risk mitigation and process compliance during delivery of projects. Work with project delivery teams to track and report all aspects of project delivery using metrics that represent benefits, quality, budget and timeline. Ensure infrastructure is delivered and supported cost effectively and that total cost is defined for specific initiatives.
• Maintains and manages technical relationships with vendors. Develop and manage relationships with network/telecom suppliers and managed service partners, including negotiation of equipment and service costs/terms. Work with vendors to implement product feature improvements for reliability, availability, and serviceability. Build and maintain relationships with major technology suppliers to continuously explore opportunities to increase the business value of products and services received.
• Manage the functional group’s personnel, including personnel development and technical training plans to ensure continued growth and opportunities for personnel, and maintain an organizational culture that attracts and retains top technical and managerial talent. Lead the day to day operations for a team of network professionals, set team goals, perform reviews and challenge team members, remove obstacles, determine technical direction, and lead initiatives.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, Email Routing, SPAM, etc.).
• Provide technical expertise as an escalation point for the Network Operations Team including 3rd party outsourced partner.
• Oversee architecture and engineering effort and ensure that solutions are being developed in accordance to business requirements.
• Coordinate integration and operationalization of all acquisitions and divestitures. Ensure voice of customer and customer centric thinking is built into all processes and support.
• Oversee all core network change management activities (peering, transport, hardware, etc) including the development of change and test plans.
• Develop, manage, and contribute to short-term planning and long-term strategy to deliver infrastructure initiatives that meet business needs, including innovation where appropriate and while maintaining a flat or declining service cost.
• Identify new and emerging methodologies (e.g. Agile, Lean, Six Sigma) to ensure best in class DevOps Data Network Services solutions.
• Delivering and reporting on metrics to assess capacity of Operations services and adherence to service levels.
• Configuring and install software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems.
• Maintain operational budget accuracy and project future capital expenditure.
• Troubleshooting network hardware and software applications, security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
• Perform capacity planning exercises to ensure optimal user experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Superior knowledge in enterprise LANs, WANs, WLANs including routers, switches, network load balancers and wireless access points.
• Superior knowledge in layer 3 routing protocols: OSPF, RIP, BGP and IGRP.
• Superior Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocol troubleshooting ability, specifically with using protocol analyzers and/or sniffers.
• Superior knowledge of information security risks and counter measures for networking equipment.
• Superior knowledge of Payment Card Industry (PCI) network requirements adherence.
• Superior knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Systems.
• Superior knowledge of firewalls, data encryption, intrusion detection systems, antivirus software, and other industry standard techniques and practices.
• Superior TCP/IP packet analysis ability.
• Superior ability to work independently, work in a fast-paced environment, and manage workload prioritization to deliver high quality work products on time with minimal direction.
• Superior critical thinking skills with the ability to develop completely new problem solving approaches and formulate innovative solutions.
• Demonstrated collaboration skills with the ability to handle conflict and to work with a distributed team.
• Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and direct activities of a large and diverse professional and technical staff
• Solid knowledge of IT standards, process, infrastructure and systems.
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in managing network infrastructure including Cisco and HP hardware.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Technical, analytical and interpersonal skills required.
• Current CCNA, CCIE, CCNP or CCDA certification is a plus.
• Familiarity with new network technologies e.g. SDN, NFV
• Ability to communicate in an understandable, polite and friendly manner, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small business environment.
• Understanding of firewall technologies e.g. Cisco ASA, Fortigates, Palo Alto
