General Summary:
Performs duties as the Planning and Distribution Manager while having direct supervision of the Distribution Supervisor and Planning and Distribution Coordinator. Drives the continuous improvement process; identifies the improvement opportunities and applies appropriate tools to improve bottom-line results and enhance the Company’s competitive position. Schedules SAP and Mini Miint applications for the Frozen Food Plant. Maintains APO’s resources. Procure and expedite all ingredients and packaging materials for the plant. Schedules and coordinates all Special Batch testing for the plant. Responsible for ingredient and inventories for new product launches
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Planning and Scheduling accountabilities including:
• Maintain Resources in APO Client for the Frozen Food Plant.
• Create weekly CPP production schedules in SAP. Covent weekly planned orders in SAP into daily Process Orders and create additional PO’s – date specific.Maintain and revise as production schedule dictates.
• Work with Accounting and Inventory Coordinators on cycle counts, PSA reconciliations, and in-process carryover inventories to insure proper coverage for production needs.
• Hold weekly production meeting with Product Group Managers, Shift Coordinators, and Plant Services personnel to review pending production schedules (4 weeks).Discuss and resolve any issues such as crewing, mechanical problems, product changeovers, etc. and revise the production schedule as needed to insure smooth execution.
• Run MRP generations in SAP as needed.
• Maintain ingredient, packaging materials and finished product lot sizes, minimum order quantities, maximum order quantities, rounding values, lead times and safety stock in the Material.
• Work closely with Traffic to insure all inbound deliveries have arrived and received into SAP.
• Attend monthly PD conference call for upcoming events.
• Manages and oversees deployment of product (Distribution Center inventories) for frozen productions. Calculate weekly/monthly and YTD CSL%. File claims when necessary to outside warehouses. Acts as a liaison for Frozen Food Service productions.
• Ensures Manugistics maintenance is completed by entering sales projections and setting up new products.
• Works with Corporate Planning to insure alignment with Capacities and finished product inventory such as pre-building inventories for holiday season.
• Works with Corporate Planning on long term schedule changes and monthly consensus calls.
• Responsible for the ingredient, packaging and finished goods inventory.
2. Working with QA Department and Production Manager on formula changes including:
• Work closely with QA in regards to formula changes. Supply them with ingredient/packaging changeover dates for production BOMs for all formula changes based on existing inventories.
• Reread Master Data (Bill of Materials) on process orders as formula changes occur to insure proper BOM’s and production versions are being scheduled and proper requirements are being calculated.
3. Designation Plant contact for scheduling of all Special Batch Tests that includes:
• Arrange interplant transfers of materials to meet production needs
• Designated Plant contact for scheduling of all Special Batch tests for the plant. Follow up with PD and Master Data to insure that items are set up in SAP. Work with Corporate Procurement on outline agreements and source lists to insure they are created in advance.
• Communicate and coordinate all testing details with plant personnel.
• Work up theoretical usages to create, release and send Special Batch process orders to Mini Miint.
• Procure and expedite necessary new ingredients and or packaging for tests. Schedule the line time for testing.
4. Performs other critical duties including-
• Validate all purchasing requisitions in SAP. Convert purchasing requisitions into purchase orders.
• Issue and expedite all Purchase Orders to respective vendors requesting item code, amount of delivery, date of delivery and dock time for all ingredient and packaging materials for the plant.
• Adjust freight conditions as needed. Maintain and revise pricing on Purchase Orders as confirmations are received. Resolve blocked and parked invoices for ingredients and packaging materials.
• Review vendor non-conformance monthly with QA. Follow up with vendors for corrective action.
• Coordinate vendor returns and process all reverse PO lines and credit memos. Calculate and process all Vendor claims as a result of VNC’s.
• Manages all direct purchasing of good and services for entire plant through SAP.
• Assures compliance with all governmental transportation statues and regulations.
Job Complexity:
• Create and issue the production schedule to the floor, based on current finished product inventory, customer orders and forecasts.
• Working closely with QA and R&D for all Special Batch Testing.
• Working with QA and R&D to initiate all ingredient/formula changes and work with Production team to ensure all proper items are in place prior to the production runs.
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university is preferred. Experience in SAP, Manugistics, Mini Mint/Citrex preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills; must be a skilled communicator and possess the ability to interact effectively with and influence all levels of employees – from corporate management to hourly production workers.
• Excellent presentation skills.
• Computer proficiency in Windows-based software applications (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team environment..
Working Conditions:
• Work divided between office, meeting rooms, and plant environment. While in the plant, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; the noise level in the plant is usually loud.
