Description
Shutterfly is seeking a highly motivated, strategic product management powerhouse with a technical background, and strength that spans both project and product management, to step in as the Product Owner for BorrowLenses. BorrowLenses is the Shutterfly brand where professional photographers and videographers come to rent premium gear online. This role will be charged with driving business growth by creating customer and market focused product strategies, building and successfully delivering a product roadmap for the business that generates high-quality experiences that delight our customers, and solves for operational needs. BorrowLenses operates as an independent business unit within Shutterfly.
This is a highly visible key management role for the business, working closely with our BorrowLenses engineers, and cross-functional Shutterfly product and technical teams. The role reports to the GM of BorrowLenses, while working closely with leadership across marketing, operations, insight analytics and customer service. We are seeking someone who can manage the Product roadmap for an entire SME, and is adept at managing resource tradeoffs at this level. Examples of tradeoffs include balancing strategic builds versus short term bug fixes and/or servicing tech debt, building features versus building administrative capacity, and adding ENG resources versus narrowing the scope.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with GM to develop BL’s product vision, and then project lead all aspects of BL’s platform development including strategic roadmap prioritization, metrics and operations for both our customer-facing and operations/CCT facing requirements.
• Successfully and continually manage and prioritize overall product and project roadmaps that align to BL business objectives. Overall product lifecycle management, including project management tasks such as sprint planning, capacity planning, daily status updates, removing blockers, and general problem resolution.
• Drive revenue through new product launches and existing site optimization across all key flows that encompass the platform such as Search, Store/Shopping/Browse, Cart/Checkout, and other site performance improvements in conjunction with marketing/ UX and customer support.
• Directly engage BL internal stakeholders to identify compelling solutions to: customer challenges and needs, operational challenges and needs, and site requirements to deliver business strategy
• Develop requirements, drive prioritization of features and tradeoffs, build out A/B testing plans and measurement guidelines to accompany releases, write feature specifications, work with the engineering team and develop and continually manage a well-groomed backlog.
• As the product owner, collaborate with and motivate cross-functional teams, managing projects while aligning on common product strategies and tactics.
• Hands-on product development from concept through delivery with a cross functional team to deliver against an aggressive timeline. Work closely with associated internal teams to balance technical, product and business trade-offs.
• Leverage existing customer data and market research to inform customer solutions and product roadmaps.
• Use financial acumen to inform prioritization, and support business case development of project initiatives. Stay on top of industry trends and e-commerce best practices, using customer / market data to inform decision making and the product roadmap.
• Anticipate and resolve resource gaps, obstacles and timing issues. Ensure efficient use of company’s resources cross-functionally.
Requirements:
• 7-10 years of PM experience required
• Deep understanding of various System Development Life Cycles (Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Iterative, Spiral, Safe, etc.)
• Solid understanding of technology infrastructures
• Proficient with JIRA or related project management systems and highly proficient in creating user stories for an agile development environment.
• Exceptional listening, problem solving, negotiation, and facilitation skills
• Strong analytical skills and ability to clearly communicate analysis to a broad audience
• Excellent organizational skills, time management, and highly detail oriented with the ability to juggle multiple priorities or deadlines
• Experience with web analytics (Adobe, Google or related suites), A/B testing engines (Test & Target, Optimzely, etc) and basic analysis as a part of feature-decision making.
• Experience with product forecasting, statistical modeling and/or strategic planning a plus
• Experience with or interest in photography or videography is always a plus!
