Description
The SAP basis administrator plays a critical role in delivering consistent high performance SAP systems and applications to support business operation. The basis administrator is responsible for architecting SAP technical solutions, implement and support SAP applications and Infrastructure, monitor the systems performance and utilization. Because the basis administrator is involved with multiple business functional groups (Sales, HR, Finance, etc...), he/she will not only know how to manage multiple projects, but will also be a key player in day to day systems operations in support of all business areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, maintain and support of SAP systems, including but not limited to Solution Manager, ECC, and BI, GRC, CRM, etc.
• Manage the change management processes within the SAP Landscape and the SAP enterprise Infrastructure according to accepted policy and procedure of Smith & Wesson.
• Provide technical expertise for resolving escalated issues. Participate in crisis resolution meetings as necessary.
• Collaborate with functional teams on the integration and support of the SAP systems and new initiatives.
• Automate administrative and operational systems support functions. Provide training and direction to other operational support teams.
• Maintain technical knowledge of SAP components and architecture through participation in SAP community groups and seminars.
• Maintain documentation on system configurations, maintenance processes and schedules.
• Monitor performance as it relates to SAP infrastructure and enterprise architecture components, applications and databases.
• Develop and oversee the execution of backup/restore and business continuity/disaster recovery procedures for SAP technologies.
• Perform release and patch activities and participate in overall upgrade improvements to systems and hardware.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements within SAP Systems Infrastructure and Architecture.
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 operations of these critical systems.
• Support IT audit activities, analyze results and provide remediation which results in improved compliance to standards and controls for all internal and external regulatory requirements.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
Assist with application and user support when needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:
• BS/BA in information technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 or more years of experience managing SAP technologies as a basis administrator in a medium or large size organization.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal, leadership, and team-building skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and proceed with objectives with minimum supervision.
• Must be capable of working flexible hours sometimes under pressure of aggressive deadlines.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities, communicate task status clearly and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Ability to collaborate with other team members working remotely from various locations.
• Must have strong technical foundation and strong problem solving skills.
• Proficient understanding of SAP technologies and applications.
• Understanding of SOX IT General Controls.
Minimum Knowledge/Experience:
• 3 or more years of experience in SAP BASIS working on a UNIX / DB2 environment.
• 3 years of experience in SAP BASIS in multiple applications. ECC, BI, Solutions Mgr. GRC, CRM, and others.
Language Skills
• Must have excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written communications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Works in an office environment.
• Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
• Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Normal office environment and office lighting.
• The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in anther department, this includes vision, hearing, and footwear.
• Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting.
• All employees are required to apply ergonomic correctness to all job tasks.
