General Summary
The Sales Operations Analyst – Customer Focus serves as the analytical expert who works closely with Customer Development, Field Sales, and Sales Finance. Responsibilities include monitoring customer, channel, brand and category specific objectives, strategies, and overall business performance as related to current plan execution. This position will benefit from knowledge in the following areas: retail sales, business acumen, business intelligence reporting, trade fund management process, syndicated data and Microsoft Office. The ability to organize and synthesize data and communicate succinct, actionable insights is critical.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Performs sales analysis using syndicated data (including POS and consumer panel), financial metrics and shipment information
2. Tracks business performance versus key distribution, shelving, merchandising and pricing (DSMP) objectives and strategies by Customer and/or channel.
3. Provides thought leadership on key initiatives through sales decomposition analysis.
4. Identifies opportunities to maximize trade fund spend through post-promotional analysis.
5. Conducts ad hoc analysis for customer/channel opportunities and challenges.
6. Synthesizes and presents key insights and opportunities to sales leadership.
7. Initiates improvement process and gains cross-functional buy-in to new reporting and analytic methods.
8. Champions new tools and serves as resource for sales team training and analytic best practices.
Job Complexity
• Develops working relationships with various cross-functional groups (Sales Finance, Field Sales, Customer Development, etc) to ensure that the reporting needs of the Sales Organization are met
• Able to integrate data from multiple sources into comprehensive business analytics
• Presents business results and insights in a clear and concise manner that drives performance
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum education required: Bachelor’s Degree
• Years of relevant experience: 2 to 5 years professional experience with background in Syndicated Data, Retail Sales, Finance, Business Analytics or a related discipline.
Knowledge, skill, and abilities required:
• Technical Skills, experience with Syndicated Data (IRI or AC Nielsen, retailer loyalty card, retailer POS) preferred
