Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Director of Business Development is responsible for leading efforts to drive organic and inorganic growth through expansion into adjacent markets. These would be facilitated through a variety of business development activities including technology acquisition, strategic partnerships, licensing and M&A.
• Expand Bushnell’s served market definition by identifying and analyzing adjacent markets as well as potential new platforms and business models.
• Identify technologies capable of differentiating and innovating our markets. Establish partnerships to gain access to those technologies and to partner with the appropriate product teams to commercialize these technologies into new products, services and solutions for our consumers.
• Identify potential licensing opportunities and partners for Bushnell and its complete portfolio of brands.
• Support the strategic planning process for Bushnell providing competitive potential analysis and strategic insight to the President of the business, and project managing major strategic initiatives
• Develop and manage a robust acquisition funnel for Bushnell. This will encompass leading the acquisition process (working in conjunction with other functions as appropriate) from market assessment and target identification to cultivation through financial modeling, due diligence, and integration.
• Support M&A activities for Corporate and other business units within Vista Outdoor as required.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will combine a sound business background with exceptional analytical and strategic skills. She/He will be broadly skilled innovative leader with a high level of intelligence, business acumen, executive presence and a transformative mindset. The successful candidate will have a passion for consumer markets and products with preferably a technical background. Financial experience, language skills, and international or expatriate operating experience is a plus. He/She must be a self-starter capable of driving results with limited guidance and oversight and have strong collaboration skills.
In addition, all candidates must possess the following skills, experience, or attributes:
• Exceptional analytical and strategic orientation – demonstrated experience building complex financial models and performing financial analysis, assimilating multiple data points and quickly drawing logical conclusions, and analyzing financial data to identify implications and trends.
• Experience evaluating new / emerging technologies and integrating them into consumer products. Preferably with expertise in consumer durables verticals especially in the outdoor sporting goods space.
• Expertise with the full continuum of M&A activities from strategy development, target identification to acquisition and integration. Must have experience building
• Pursue, review, evaluate, and determine opportunities for technology licensing.
• Conduct M & A potential opportunities.
• Strong written and oral communications skills – ability to crisply and concisely convey complex information to busy executives.
• Good organization and project planning skills – ability to juggle multiple priorities, ability to develop and manage plans for complex projects, process orientation.
• Strong leadership and ability to interact effectively with various functions, customers, and experience in a large team environment
• MUST be willing to travel as needed (20-25%)
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject is desired, and a Masters’ degree in Business Administration or other related discipline is strongly preferred.
