Job Summary
The Director of Customer Segments lead one of three Product/Portfolio Planning Customer Segment teams in a customer-led global product and portfolio planning process. Specifically, this person and team will focus on New to Sport consumers and product. This team develops and guides a storyline of products, features and deliverables in anticipation of worldwide customer and market needs. This role provides cross-functional leadership and direction and is accountable for translating customer needs and requests into the future product plans of Harley-Davidson. This role is responsible for analyzing and extracting customer data and customer profiles to determine market segment requirements. They will develop targeted product offerings and influence marketing campaigns based on customer profiles in addition to providing information to product development, sales and marketing teams to assist in the promotion of the organization's goods and/or services.
Job Responsibilities
• Leads a team to effectively define customer and market needs and map these to future products and features. Effectively documents, communicates and coordinates with the Product Program Management team, Go-To-market and Product Development teams to establish understanding, consistently articulating a clear product vision in the language of the client/customer
• Responsible for research, tracking, foresight, trends to inform marketing strategies, plans and activations and use strategy, insights and analytics to inform new and current segment programs
• Responsible for carrying through all requirements related to product planning and representation of Voice of the Customer (VOC) requirements to the Product Development community
• Responsible for Customer-centric input to portfolio management (e.g., holistic experience delivered to consumer across all channels – 4Ps) that monetizes opportunity through creation of early business case development
• Responsible for the segment VOC in product Life Cycle Planning (LCP) process and for creating the globally optimized LCP that aligns with the Company’s strategies, objectives, and resources, and is balanced with the Company’s stakeholder requirements. This includes new product offerings, ongoing product improvements, margin requirements, global opportunities, regulatory requirements, quality, cost and timing (QCT) targets that meet/exceed, agreed upon goals. This includes working with the key stakeholders on development of volume and financial forecasts for LCP projects within their assigned Customer segment.
• Lead the team to ensure Voice of Customer targets are met within a set methodology. The role also serves as a product expert resource to internal stakeholders to aid with the planning and execution of their product GTM deliverables.

Education Specifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is required. MBA is desired.
Experience Requirements
This role typically requires at least 12 years related experience as an analytically driven voice of the customer leader that has proven ability developing and leading a best in class Voice of the Customer strategy and organization that turns insights into business results.
• Knowledge of technical, mechanical and electrical is helpful in assessing of proposed engineering solutions meet customer needs.
• Must be knowledgeable about consumer research techniques and information acquisition and can translate the data into actionable product plans.
• Must have excellent organization and people skills due to extensive interaction with many divisions.
• Requires effective interaction at all levels of the corporation.
• Must be skilled at facilitating the grouping of employees from diverse functions into effective teams.
• Must be skilled at examining and leading change regarding internal processes and systems to continuously enhance the ability to bring the right products to market.
• Must demonstrate effective leadership within own department and across broad parts of the organization where there may be little or no formal authority
• Must have knowledge of H-D/ Motorcycle business, the competitive environment and finance principles.
Preferred
• OE motorcycle business management, portfolio and life cycle management or marketing experience in a motor vehicle marketing environment is preferred but not required.
• Motorcycle experience (as a rider or within the industry) is not required but having the ability to quickly gain an extensive understanding of motorcycles and the industry will be required.
