Summary:
The Director of Finance and Administration for the North American Steering Column business is responsible for Finance, Controlling, Human Resources and Information Systems. In addition to being a general business partner and a key member of the Business Unit leadership team, this leadership role will be responsible for interfacing and coordinating with global Steering Column business leaders for the responsible functions. The Director of Finance and Administration will work closely with all areas of the steering column business including, operations, engineering, sales and project management. The position participates in strategic discussions and is involved in all significant decisions of the business.
Principle Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of financial accounting, cost accounting, FP&A, budgeting, capital budgeting and cost estimating.
• Review and monitor balance sheet accounts including key reserves
• Provide and analyze R&D project costs (including capital expenditures); complete net present value analysis to align R&D investments in projects that provide the most benefit to the Business unit
• Must be proficient at developing reports presenting financial results and plans to senior executives
• Possess a working knowledge of information systems and be especially adept and proficient at learning new software and system applications. Must be highly proficient with excel and power point.
• Must have working knowledge of logistics including across the entire value chain from planning and receipt of raw materials, manufacturing planning to final delivery to customers. Manage inventory levels to benchmark targets.
• Should possess a basic knowledge of human resource management including systems and processes
• Have an intense continuous improvement mindset with a deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles with a particular emphasis on material flow
• As a member of the senior leadership team responsibilities include strategic planning, strategy deployment and proving financial analysis and support for special projects and initiatives
• Ensure compliance with Corporate Guidelines governing accounting procedures and internal controls
• Provide hands on leadership in restructuring the business unit to return to profitability
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance preferred or other degrees with relevant experience
CPA and/or MBA desirable
Experience
Candidate must have at least 7+ years of relevant experience.
Special Skills
Candidate must be highly organized, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be comfortable interacting with all levels of management personnel in a dynamic environment. Must be entrepreneurial and possess the ability to thrive in a fast paced rapidly changing atmosphere. Will be required to work across cultures and travel internationally. Experience in business restructuring and divestitures necessary.
Candidate must be proficient in advanced functions of Excel and must have strong working knowledge of other MS Office programs such as Access, Word PowerPoint and EssBase. Working knowledge of SAP strongly preferred.
