Position: Director, Tax Accounting
Location: Atlanta, GA
Reports to: VP, Tax Reporting
The Director - Tax Accounting will lead the worldwide tax accounting function, including managing and review of the of quarterly tax provisions, global return to provision calculations, and coordination of financial statement audits. The Director - Tax Accounting will work closely with the Corporate Accounting Group on financial statement preparation and SEC filings and the Business, Planning and Analysis group on projections.
The Director of Tax Accounting will also work on special projects, including domestic and international restructurings, acquisition and divestitures, and Treasury related analysis.
Responsibilities:
• Calculation of quarterly and annual worldwide tax provision
• Review of the department’s tax account reconciliations
• Projection of effective tax rates based on the Company’s projected income before tax
• Maintenance of FIN 48 support, including preparation of Company’s position papers for financial statement purposes
• Lead Tax Department’s internal controls process and compliance
• Prepare and review tax sections of SEC reporting and footnote disclosures (10Q and 10K)
• Implement worldwide tax reporting package; train and develop worldwide finance contacts on preparation and maintenance of the packages
• Identify and implement opportunities to streamline tax accounting process
• Monitor tax attributes and valuation allowances
• Manage proactive communication with external auditors
• Preparation of opening balance sheet tax items for acquisitions and carve-out financial statements for divestitures
• Identification of tax accounting exposures on acquisitions
• Assist as necessary on compliance and audit defense
• Research and monitor issues and changes in accounting for income taxes
• Remain informed with respect to tax law developments and their impact on the Company
• Project work to potentially include due diligence and acquisition planning for target companies, identification of effective divestiture structures, restructurings, and coordination of cash repatriations and intercompany loans with the Company’s Treasury department
• Train, mentor and develop members of the Tax department; work with peers to maintain a positive team atmosphere
• 8 - 10 years Big 4 and/or combination US-based multinational corporate accounting or tax experience
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting required, CPA preferred
• Strong accounting and tax expertise in FAS 109 with knowledge of international aspects of FAS 109
• Strong analytical, verbal and written communication, people, and organizational skills
• Experience working in SAP and Hyperion environments a plus
• Excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, effectively prioritize, manage others, meet external deadlines, and critical thinker
• Highly motivated, aggressive, creative, articulate, results oriented
• Supervisory and project management experience
• Flexible and able to operate in fast paced, changing environment
• Ability to grow and change with the organization
