Overview
The Director IT Operations is accountable for the health of our production environments through operational leadership of our internal and cloud technology platforms, involving rigorous leadership of change, service management, and operational processes. This role partners closely with Sleep Number IT leadership, IT engineering, and IT architecture to anticipate, establish and maintain operational measures needed to support business initiatives.
Responsibilities
• Accountable for the health of the global network, voice, computing, storage, and data center environments to meet the current and future; needs of the company
• Develop and run the staffing and support model to support our enterprise user base 24/7, ensuring client satisfaction
• Oversees the establishment, monitoring, and analytics of operational key metrics to reduce business disruption
• Establish a culture of continuous improvement
• Partner and influence across IT to develop strategic, scalable infrastructure technology and operations solutions
• Coordinate with the Information Security, Data and satellite technology teams team to provide visibility to related incidents
• Lead the development of a disaster recovery plan for all applicable systems
• Ensure adherence to corporate financial objectives. Track and manage departmental expenditures.
• Mentor, coach, motivate, oversee, and lead a team while fostering a highly collaborative culture.
• Manage IT Operations portfolio in partnership with IT and business leaders.
• Leverage business acumen to recommend and influence enterprise technology advancements.
Qualifications
Experience, Education & Certifications:
• BA or BS required, preferably in a related area. Advanced degree preferred.
• ITSM and ITIL certifications preferred
• Technology leader with 10+years’ experience in a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment. IT Operations leadership, preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading the introduction of new technologies and standards into an evolving environment (e.g. web/cloud-based applications, Video Collaboration, SaaS, user vs. IT maintained applications, mobility applications, security, etc.).
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
• Strong activator with advanced critical and strategic thinking skills
• Strong understanding of business processes and the integration of technology
• Ability to understand complex technical issues and articulate in simple terms
• Specific experiences delivering large-scale (and scalable) technology solutions to support rapid business growth
• Practical leader capable of creating and implementing plans to achieve strategic objectives
• Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills (both internal and external).
• Proven ability to build confidence and rally others during times of ambiguity or adversity
• Exceptionally strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence a cross-functional group towards a unified direction and inspire trust and confidence in others.
