Vice President, Finance- Allspark

This senior Finance role will be a key member of entertainment segment management team, providing commercial financial direction, feedback and guidance, and acting as an integral part of the team to add significant value, maximize returns, oversee the control environment and manage the risk profile of the business. Will be responsible for the financial strategy of all management aspects of the business with a strong focus on entertainment finance, as well as evaluating long term strategic partnerships and options, reporting, planning, and risk management.
A day in the life of a Vice President, Finance
Oversee Hasbro Studios Financial Performance & Strategic Planning
• Works closely with Chief Content Officer to deliver profitability and cash flow for the Hasbro’s entertainment businesses (i.e., Allspark Pictures, Allspark Animation, Allspark Distribution), Boulder Media, and Discovery Family Channel (DFC).
• In partnership with senior management, recommends, monitors and approves any content investments (i.e., production funding, overages, etc.).
• Leads the proactive financial guidance to meet communicated targets including revenue deal structures, distribution partner and format, deal timing, cost mitigation initiatives, etc.
• Drives decision-making and leads recommendations to senior management including deal financials, Global Brand Team financial inputs, etc.
• Oversees the overall financial management aspects of the development, greenlight, and ultimately the production process.
• Develops appropriate strategies to optimize production efficiencies, funding solutions, and financial returns across the segment.
• Partners with production and tax teams to maximize tax credits as appropriate.
• Oversees the development and manages revenue ultimate and amortization.
• Understands current and forecasted performance and develops corrective action and improvement plans in coordination with overall Corporate Hasbro initiatives. Develops business plans to reflect the strategic priorities of the company.
• Oversees the reporting of performance against business plans.
Oversees Reporting, Analytics & Data
• Drives and oversees all financial management and reporting for the segment covering regular corporate reporting and forecasting, production reporting, and ad hoc analyses.
• Leads segment target setting and communication of financials results and metrics – Budget, Strat Planning, Forecasting, Quarterly Business Reviews, etc.
• Ultimate ownership of financial planning, sales forecasting, analysis, and reporting within the segment including all Corporate submissions (i.e., Forecasts, Budget, Strat, NRP, TLP, Sales Forecasting, Production Dashboard, etc.).
• Drives reporting and forecasting of potential development funding, submission package inputs, revenue forecasting, T&G financial input coordination, production funding, etc.
• Owns Discovery Family Channel reporting of projected T&G revenues and programming revenue share.
• Oversight of the Ultimates model for the segment.
• Oversees the ownership of Accounts Payable at Studio for cost center management and production spend of $40m+/annually, as well as for Accounts Receivable at Studio responsible for ~$60m in external revenue billing, collections and dispute resolution.
Risk Management
• Identifies business issues and risks, and drives implementation of appropriate solutions and of controls to mitigate risks.
• Ensures appropriate SOX/Hasbro processes compliance for financial accounting, reporting, and control are in place and aligned with Corporate policies.
• Audit oversight and communication (internal and external).
What you'll bring:
• Is a driven executive with a history of leading financial functions in a growth-driven, global environment with strong television production and/or film production experience is required.
• Able to act across a wide range of activities and will need to demonstrate the flexibility, creativity and breadth of experience in working closely in a highly-matrixed organization.
• As the key manager responsible for controls of this studio, must be able to establish a strong control environment and ensure it is adhered to while allowing the business to operate effectively.
• In addition to strong finance skills, must have general management skills and leadership stature to be seen as a credible leader inside and outside of the organization.
• Able to act objectively and understand, analyze, and simplify complex problems and processes, and construct frameworks for problem solving.
• Shows initiative and originates action; ability to work under pressure and deliver a quality product within agreed timeframes; reliable, proactive, imaginative, responsible.
• Experience in managing corporate reporting requirements of a subsidiary entity, including maintenance of GL accounts, management reporting, quarterly forecasting and annual budget rounds.
• Experience in managing all finance aspects of a production business, including evaluation of production proposals and tax incentives, as well as development and management of ultimates.
• Strong accounting and finance background with recognized accounting or finance qualification and is a proven leader in setting direction for, and achieving objectives of, a strategically vital function in the television/film production and global distribution industry.
• MBA or advance degree in Finance/Accounting/Economics is required.
• Strong GAAP understanding – must understand Entertainment Accounting.
• In-depth understanding of Revenue Recognition principles.
• Excellent team management, motivation, and coaching skills.
• Able to build and maintain strong relationships and strategic partnerships.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to influence, persuade, and shape optimal decision-making; demonstrates resolve, calmness, and tact as necessary.
