Description:
The Senior Director, Human Relations will be a key player in leading the company’s Human Relations initiatives for Bimbo Bakeries USA’s Central Region comprised of 4,000 Associates, 14 bakeries, 6 sales centers and 96 collective bargaining agreements. This person will be critical in helping to create and foster a high performance culture that respects the customer, emphasizes results, innovation, service, creativity and quality. The Senior Director Human Relations will work closely with upper management and cross-functional business partners to coach and develop associates in a way that supports the company beliefs and vision. This role will serve as a thought partner regarding all aspects of people, diversity and inclusion, policy and compliance issues and will lead the regional Field HR Teams, the field Center of Execution the Communications function for the Central Region and will have matrix leadership responsibility for the field safety and labor relations resources. This person will serve as a member of the regional Leadership team supporting the Business Unit VP and the functional leaders in Supply Chain and Finance.
This role will provide expertise in the areas of organizational development, associate relations, performance management, associate retention, leadership development, change management, benefits, labor relations, compensation and coaching as it relates to the field organization. The Senior Director, HR will contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic plans and will manage field HR programs as appropriate to drive organizational initiatives. This person will provide guidance on compliance and regulatory changes to reduce legal risk and will recommend improvements to achieve and deliver improved results.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Partner with local management team by planning and executing strategic HR initiatives that support the business.
• Lead a team of 15-20 HR professionals to deliver the highest quality service at the lowest possible cost.
• Responsible for all HR Fundamentals (comp, benefits, staffing, etc.), Associate Relations, and Change Management. The Senior Director, HR and Leadership team will work closely together to advocate for associates and partner with business teams to inspire greatness in our people, evolve the culture and drive sustainable business growth.
• Support and guide associates regarding Company policies, HR programs (benefits, pay and salary) administration and interpretation to ensure policies and procedures are handled consistently and in a timely manner.
• Partner with corporate and global HR teams to ensure decisions meet local guidelines and policies.
• Must accurately diagnose organization issues, develop solutions and implement action plans. Ensure a positive workplace.
• Must ensure activities are in compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations across the region (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA, global work councils, etc).
• Assists leadership in managing performance and developing succession plans.
• Lead efforts to create a supportive culture through Associate Engagement, Diversity and Inclusion, and organizational health action planning.
Position Requirements:
Education and Work History
• BA/BS coupled with 12+ years of progressively complex field human resources experience, with 5+ years’ experience in a management level role, preferably in a manufacturing or unionized environment.
• Experience supervising Human Resources partners in a dispersed work environment.
• Extensive knowledge of state, local and federal laws effecting employment required.
• Extensive knowledge of HR policies and practices, compensation and benefits, organization change and effectiveness is essential.
• This position requires the incumbent to have in-depth knowledge of laws and regulations relating to employment, labor and associate relations.
• Demonstrated success operating at a strategic level along with operational expertise in multiple disciplines is required.
• Strong leadership skills and demonstrated success in developing strong cross functional business relationships.
• Must be a confident communicator, (including both written and verbal) and the ability to effectively present to all levels of the organization, including the senior leadership team.
• Comfort with data analytics; understands how to utilize data to drive performance and achieve objectives.
• Strong aptitude in MS Office with solid foundation in Excel, PowerPoint.
• Occasional overnight travel required.
