PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The RAU Sourcing Director (Raw Materials/Auxiliaries/Utilities & Co-Products Sales) is responsible for a portfolio of procurement categories including: specialty malt, rice, flavors and juices, electricity, natural gas, renewable energy, saved grain & yeast, detergents, and vertical operations raw materials. S/he is responsible to drive the strategic regional agenda of these categories and to work effectively with stakeholders including manufacturing, technical and external suppliers.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Lead the Regional Procurement Category Management:
• Define and execute the regional category strategies for the assigned portfolio of procurement categories
• Work with global and zone teams to execute procurement and value added initiatives, against the annual targets
• Identify and implement best practices for the North America Zone
• Define category risk management
• Manage global and zone stakeholders for performance excellence and continuous improvement
• Manage regional supplier landscape for the assigned categories
BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT
Category or role scope:
• Geography: Regional (United States & Canada)
• Team Size: Individual Contributor
• Key Stakeholders: GPO (Global Procurement Team), Zone Presidents, Regional Procurement VPs, Regional Category Directors/Managers, PSS Leaders
QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Education:
• Bachelor degree in Science, Engineering or Business or equivalent
• MBA strongly preferred
• English language fluency is mandatory
Experience:
• 5-10 years of progressive procurement category experience, with regional or global scope
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in complex, cross-functional project management
• In-depth knowledge and experience in getting things done, across multiple cultures and levels in the organization
Competencies:
• Excellent problem solving capabilities and analytical skills in a wide variety of operational and or supply chain settings
• Ability to see and understand end-to-end processes and cross boundary dependencies of Procurement on “down-stream” effects
• Familiar with project management and continuous process improvement methodologies
• Excellent skills across the complete Procurement process, from data analysis to negotiations
• Ability to work collaboratively and coach in a team environment and work effectively with people at all levels in the organization
• Skilled at engaging multiple stakeholders with differing views
• Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in written English
• Proven track record of breakthrough negotiations, against adverse conditions, e.g. regulated markets, monopolies/oligopolies
• Adept in leading cross-functional workshops
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Advanced PC and presentation skills
• Strategic & conceptual thinking
• Introduce & implement change, continuous improvement
• Capable of independently managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Self-starter; a ‘roll up the sleeves’, entrepreneurial mindset
• Flexibility and willingness to travel globally up to 25%, depending on business priorities
