We are currently searching for a talented and experienced Director, Brand Copy to join our global marketing team, based in Hollywood, CA. Reporting to the VP Creative, as the Director of Copy, you’ll play a critical role steering the brand voice, working directly within our in-house brand creative, marketing, product and digital teams to develop and implement Fender brand messaging across all campaigns, product launches, consumer touch-points and throughout all channels, digital platforms and experiences.
The ideal candidate is a talented and creative Brand Copywriter – a leader who looks through both a brand and consumer lens and is passionate about writing, marketing, creative concept development, Fender products, digital experiences, story-telling, artists and music.
About the Job:
• Lead Brand Voice, copy development and strategy for the Fender brand across all channels and platforms. You’ll help create, define and execute campaigns and messaging that elevate Fender’s digital and physical products and services, and guide the consistent of Fender copy guidelines and principles across all touch points.
• Build and lead an in-house copy team to create engaging, elevated, and strategic copy solutions for all Fender products across the entire marketing messaging funnel to support Fender’s growth goals and build brand equity with first-time and life-time Fender consumers.
• Partner with creative & channel leaders to guide the development & continuity of Fenders Brand Voice across all segments, product lines, campaigns and consumer touchpoints.
• Establish, lead, evolve, and champion Fender’s brand voice and guidelines.
• Work with Brand Design team to develop global creative concepts and copy solutions.
• Work with the Fender CRM, Growth & Media teams to optimize acquisition, retention, loyalty and the consumer’s brand experience. Ensure delivery of the right messaging, to the right consumer segments, at the right time across email, .com and all owned, shared, SEO/SEM and paid media and our family of digital products.
• Work with traffic and project management teams to provide copy and assets on schedule within a fast-paced environment.
• Work with SEO lead to inform copy solutions that will convert, educate and engage.
• Establish the brand’s editorial strategy leveraging current content marketing best-practices.
• Build and manage a network of freelance resources and agencies to support brand and transactional copy needs across campaigns, product launches and Fender’s marketing funnel.
• Optimize brand voice and messaging for varied audiences on in multiple channels.
• Build a system that ensures errors and grammar are caught and adjusted.
• Communicate clearly and consistently across the organization.
• Use your creativity and design thinking to add value to all digital storytelling.
What you need:
• 8+ years’ in-house brand or agency experience leading diverse teams to drive and execute messaging across multiple channels (social, brand, email, see, digital, retail,)
• Deep experience developing and implementing brand voice guidelines successfully for other brands.
• A talent and passion for writing inspiring and creative brand level copy. Ability to translate creative abilites and writing process into a consistent stratify from top tier product campaigns to transactional emails.
• Proven experience in campaign and marketing concept development and execution.
• Experience writing and developing copy for multichannel marketing content that includes digital and social platforms.
• Editorial and or Journalism experience a must.
• Working understanding of App marketing best practices to guide copy/messaging development.
• Experience with global, omni-channel campaigns involving translations across multiple languages.
• Organized and self-motivated to prioritize with high attention to detail.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven organization.
• Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format and build relationships with multiple stakeholders.
• Experience writing in music instrument industry and familiarity with guitar & music culture is a bonus.
• Experience working on a subscription based service or brand is plus.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
