Huemen Design:
HARMAN has always placed great value on the design and execution of its products and services. In 2018, the three internal design groups across the 4 divisions were reorganized into a single agency-model design organization. This design organization is named “Huemen.” Huemen will continue to deliver and lead the world-class design across all of HARMAN in the disciplines of Industrial Design (ID), User Interface and User Experience (UI/UX), as well Marketing Services and Future Experiences in Auto and Home.
Position Summary:
Huemen is seeking a program operations and management expert with 7-10 years of relevant experience to be an integral part of Huemen Design organization leadership team.
The Director, Program Operations and Management plays a multi-faceted role within Huemen. First and foremost, they are responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle to support in diagnosing client needs, planning and managing project teams, and leveraging the knowledge and creativity of colleagues to generate robust operational program solutions, for our clients as well as for Huemen.
This position will foster a high-performance and fulfilling team environment that drives the “convergent” thinking and collaboration to ensure that the final product is of the highest quality and exceeds client expectations. Huemen dives deeply into the issues at hand and often identify additional ways to help clients achieve their business goals over the longer term to transform those learnings into programs and account plans.
The Director, Program Operations and Management is also the link between the financial operations of the company and the services we provide. We are responsible for clear contracts, accurate budget control, and timely reporting of revenue and budget data. We also see around corners, identifying and mitigating risks to the project, the client relationship, and Huemen’s growth and profitability.
This role will negotiate contracts, coordinate design and technology staff activities and allocation across multiple disciplines and geographies, represent clients internally, maintain project review KPIs, create and manage budgets and schedules, and provide forward looking assessments for hiring and project-based needs.
The Director, Program Operations and Management will collaborate with discipline leads on resource planning and allocation across studios and projects as well as work closely with finance to be responsible for budget control and cost analysis (using SAP) on the projects and communicating such details to the leadership. All issues impacting deliverables, schedules, and budget should be maintained with thorough documentation. Proactively communicating schedule and scope changes is imperative. In addition to these tasks, the Program Operations and Management Lead will be expected to make a contribution in the defining and refining of the Program Operations and Management disciplines’ methods and processes.
This position will be focused on both internal HARMAN needs across our 4 divisions as well as external clients and projects. The person who fills this role will work closely and collaboratively with our team of designers and business leaders globally.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Initially, this role will be handled by the Director, Program Operations and Management. Based on billable directions and needs, this role will be the seeding of a billable program management team within Huemen to service revenue generating needs.
Job Responsibilities:
The Director, Program Operations and Management will be responsible for executing clear and efficient program based operational leadership to manage programs driving exceptional quality and business success. The Program Operations and Management Lead will work closely with Huemen and HARMAN leaders, clients, and project teams to execute the following:
• Work closely with leadership and business development teams to define project scope and proposal.
• Build and lead all operational foundations to consistently deliver world-class design.
• Responsible to fully manage resource allocation and utilization across Huemen.
• Manages programs and accountable for successful design delivery.
• Provides strategic account direction for accounts.
• Ability to articulate measurable business results around deliverables internally and for our clients.
• Shares best practices across the PM and Ops domains.
• Implements resolution of project level issues independently.
• Creates efficiencies and processes for the operation of account across studios.
Performance Measurement:
• This role will be measured on:

Basic Qualifications:
• 7-10 years program management and/or operational management experience.
• Experience from a client service organization.
• Candidates are expected to demonstrate a successful process, track record, and evidence experience managing complex, multi-location and multi-discipline projects.
• Excellent understanding of product design, user experience design, interaction design, software or digital development, marketing services, and brand strategy.
• Experience in account management and business development practices.
• Strong professional/academic credential including business background.
• Strong understanding of Project Accounting.
• Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) at all levels of organizations, both within clients, teams, and partner organizations is required.
• A passion for great design is a must.
• Proactive, intuitive, engaging, entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and collaborative are important traits to be successful.
• Excellent organization skills including time management, exceptional follow-up, and tracking progress.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Business Software and Analysis Tools (SAP or other ERP system a plus).
• A design focused degree and/or MBA are a plus.
Eligibility Requirements:
• Domestic and Global travel (20-30%)
