The Director of Business Intelligence will aid ConAgra Brands' Insights & Analytics team to build and evolve our analytics and reporting processes, governance and capabilities as well as delivering data solutions to internal stakeholders and external customers. This leader will work on a variety of priority data initiatives and will have the opportunity to seek out new data for acquisition, leverage tools for visualization, assign business rules and apply advanced analytics concepts to create solutions to solve business challenges. They will manage and develop a lean team of Business Intelligence (BI) professionals supporting Brand, Marketing, Innovation, and Research & Development and work closely with the Brand and Go-To-Market Insights teams to achieve the company’s growth objectives. The Business Intelligence team is tasked with creating operational efficiency through data governance, identifying key data acquisitions and partnering with Information Technology, a key strategic partner, to optimize access to data for business analysts and decision-makers. As a lean, strategic team within the Data Science & Analytics department, Business Intelligence professionals conduct analyses of historical data from multiple sources enabling informed decision making as well as problem identification and resolution. This is a direct-line group within the Data Science and Analytics organization, which is part of the Growth Center of Excellence.
Position Responsibilities
• Play a key role in development and execution of Conagra’s data acquisition strategy and participate in negotiations and structuring solutions
• Manage on-site and external partnerships to obtain necessary data, affect the optimal experimental conditions and, if appropriate, to participate in the analytical work
• Lead governance efforts related to data definitions, business requirements and taxonomies
• Provide accurate and timely guidance and data to internal clients, such as Data Science & Analytics teammates, Category Management, Pricing Strategy, Brand, Insights, et al.
• Develop insights using appropriate analytical tools, and assess and recommend additional tools and services to maximize portfolio performance
• Oversee the development of custom analyses and identify opportunities for automation and scalability
• Present analytical insights to internal partners and, if needed, to retail customers
• Provide Business Intelligence expertise and consultation to internal stakeholders as needed
Position Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• 8+ years of demonstrated business application expertise in business intelligence, data warehouse/information systems management, data analytics or advanced statistical analysis and modeling
• Experience standing up new Business Intelligence tools and platforms such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Looker, and IBM Cognos, enabling self-service analytics and designing enterprise-level reporting
• Ability to write complex/multi-data source queries, including complex SQL queries and reports
• Familiarity with database, cloud and distributed systems principles
• Fluency in programming languages (such as Pythion or Java), and the ability to pick up new languages and technologies quickly
• Development background in multiple large scale projects involving Data Management, Data Warehousing, and Business Analytics/Reporting
• Familiarity with Data extraction tools and methods
• Extensive experience solving business problems and influencing key stakeholders using a combination of data assets
• Experience with dashboard and data visualization, tools and best practices
• Demonstrated thought-leadership in providing data solutions to business challenges
• Established negotiation skills and experience with data acquisitions, from building a strategic vision to execution
• Proven strong oral and written communication skills, especially the ability to explain difficult concepts in simple, applicable business terms
