Red Classic - Sr. Director, Human Resources
OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the President, the Human Resources Executive will be a key member of Red Classic’s executive leadership team. The HR Executive, in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive and integrated people strategy that is aligned to the purpose statement and its current and long-range business objectives for enhancing performance. Sub-functions reporting into this role would include talent acquisition, employee relations, and learning/development.
Responsibilities: Through a team HR professionals, the role will be responsible for the following:
• Serve as senior advisor, counsel, and confidante to the President, as well as an advisor to all members of the ELT on the full range of human resource issues. The HR Executive will lead and collaborate to ensure that Red Classic has the talent, diversity and commitment necessary to further enhance and grow the business.
• Promote purpose, core values and a high-performance culture through HR programs and practices; model personal integrity, and drive the importance of ethics and compliance throughout the business.
• Facilitate and assist in the planning and development of the appropriate organizational alignment and structures and support systems to enhance Red Classic’s ongoing growth opportunities and objectives.
• Partner with the ELT to ensure successful integration of annual HR priorities and long-range business objectives.
• Identify leadership gaps and develop plans to close the gaps, including an executive and organizational capability plan to support strategic goals.
• Establish and execute talent acquisition, management and organizational development strategy, including diverse talent pipelines at the operational and corporate level, and workforce and succession planning/execution across all locations.
• Identify and advise on changing organizational needs affecting specific people, roles and/or processes; analyze talent vulnerabilities and develop strategies to address them.
• Lead HR budgeting and planning processes
• Lead, direct and develop the HR function, ensuring its effectiveness according to appropriate metrics as well as its compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations
• Manage compensation programs designed to the transportation industry.
• Partner with and/or support in house Legal counsel regarding employment law-related investigation working with external counsel where appropriate.
• Partner with business leaders to direct effective change initiatives to improve results; engage senior managers as change leaders, building awareness of the need for change, developing skills and knowledge to support progress and helping employees move through transitions; leverage expertise, data analytics and other tools to support organizational change efforts
• Establish an effective HR analytics and reporting process; provide input into system designs and enhancements; understand, integrate and provide counsel to the business on the various HR systems; ensure HR systems are effectively utilized with minimal business disruption; provide feedback and continuous improvement for HR systems effectiveness.
• Establish learning and development programs and systems that build organizational capacity
• Travel: as needed to ensure success, but is currently estimated at 50%.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Require a minimum of 15 years of experience with demonstrated experience and success related to the Human Resources competencies listed above and at 5-7 years managing corporate and field based teams.
• This role will be an operationally oriented, broad-based business person with strategic insight and proven, in-depth experience in human resource management. Experiences outside of HR will be considered a plus. An established track record of success contributing to the senior management team in a multisite service oriented and people-focused organization is a must.
• In addition to strong business and management acumen, the HR Executive will have a sound technical background in traditional HR competencies skilled in both devising and more importantly deploying HR strategy and tactics.
• The successful candidate must be proactive and capable of suggesting and effectively introducing alternatives to current HR practices. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a measurement and metric driven environment and “ahead of the curve” and agile in developing both strategic and tactical HR plans and programs to enhance our purpose, culture and performance. Must be able to thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
