Position Details
Reports to: SVP of FINANCE
SUMMARY
The Director -- Sales Subsidy Accounting will be the financial leader for trade spend accounting and delivery of subsidies to our retail partners. This position is responsible for systems, accounting, trend, and actual reporting of sales subsidies, as well as review of sales contracts to ensure proper accounting and delivery of subsidies to our retailers. The Director will be responsible for collaborating with Customer sales teams, Finance teams and accounting department on day-to-day financial decisions involving customer subsidies and investment. Compliance to key controlling metrics and assuring customer rigor around these measures will also be key components to the job.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Prepare, analyze, and submit Budgets and trade spend adjustments in trade spend Reporting System
• Lead process improvement and transformation initiatives in the trade spend management. Including systems, partners and processes.
• Perform financial analysis on Joint Business Plan discussions and customer-specific investment decisions
• Lead trade spend allocation and accrual process in Trade Management system (OHM), in close collaboration with sales leadership and corporate finance and accounting management
• Oversee trade spend balances and accruals for sales channels to deliver controlled operating profit targets.
• Manage subsidy / trade spend control and conduct monthly financial review meetings with departmental managers.
• Inform senior management and finance team about trade spend trends and forecasts.)
• Deliver on-going risks and opportunities to trade spend categories.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
We seek an outstanding leader and thinker in the finance sector with general management experience in a business-to-business environment and a proven track record to deliver far more than just the numbers. This executive will have the profile and capability to continue to develop to take on larger roles in the organization. Outstanding strategic and business skills, with a solid understanding of trade spending strategies and P&L management (cost and retail accounting methods) are requisites to drive this key segment forward.
• The successful candidate will have 7 -- 10 years of relevant finance and/or accounting, pricing, and business experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required.
• MBA/CPA preferred.
• Intimate understanding of Gross to Net spend or customer investments and subsidies.
• A business mindset that is both strategic and tactical. This individual will have the capability to contribute to strategic discussions, while also rolling-up his/her sleeves to work though necessary details and transactions.
• Consumer products industry experience preferred. Sales or field based finance roles a plus
