Director of Sales, Mass Channel & Global Wal-Mart
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Director of Sales, Mass Channel & Global Wal-Mart position is a key member of the Sales Leadership Team at Beiersdorf. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the growth agenda and executing effective strategies to facilitate profitable sales growth at Wal-Mart (domestically and globally) and Target. The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial drive and passion to drive transformational growth in our largest retail channel. Thought leadership and an ability to be data driven will be keys to success. He/she is responsible for developing and retaining sales talent, as well as developing strong cross-functional relationships with Customer Insights Management, Shopper and Customer Marketing, Brand Marketing, Controlling, Finance, and Supply Chain.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead the Wal-Mart and Target U.S. teams.
◦ Lead development and implementation of strategic business plans across the Wal-Mart and Target teams.
◦ Be a subject matter expert and advocate for Walmart and Target key initiatives within Beiersdorf
◦ Ensure delivery of sales and KPI scorecard metrics for Beiersdorf in Walmart amd Target stores
◦ Deliver top line and bottom line growth objectives while achieving brand share gains.
◦ Manage senior level relationships with our retail partners.
◦ Successfully manage and develop team structure that includes several non-direct reports (Supply Chain/Replenishment)
◦ Lead a team of approximately 6 colleagues
◦ Ensure controls are maintained to spend within budget on trade, promotions and shopper marketing programs
◦ Develop business forecast, lead JBP, support and provide feedback on new item concepts and account opportunities for growth
◦ Develop and manage Wal-Mart and Target store format and ecommerce strategies, aligning the sales team and business partners/leaders to support execution and deployment of critical tactics and action plans
• Support corporate growth initiatives in role as Sales Leadership Team member.
• Lead International collaboration across all Beiersdorf Wal-Mart teams globally.
◦ Share best practices across global teams.
◦ Collaborate with global Wal-Mart teams to build strong, executable customer plans across countries.
◦ Report on global Wal-Mart performance.
◦ Interact with Wal-Mart’s Global management team on Beiersdorf’s behalf
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, MBA preferred
• Minimum of 10+ years in a sales leadership capacity in fast moving consumer packaged goods environment required.
• Proven track record of producing sustainable growth with Walmart and/or Target.
• Strong leadership qualities and ability to develop a team.
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be proactive in identifying issues and recommending solutions.
• Strong knowledge of marketing and sales principals, as well as strong strategic and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Strong financial acumen and P&L Management.
• Must be results-oriented, organized, demonstrating the ability to lead and motivate others.
• Proficient knowledge and use of MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint), Nielsen Nitro and/or IRI, SAP experience extremely helpful.
