The Associate Director, Communications is responsible for helping to lead the development and execution of global corporate reputation communications strategies to advance and promote Kellogg Company’s reputation with key stakeholders. Lead with us at Kellogg Company in our Battle Creek, MI, global corporate headquarters.
HERE’S A TASTE OF WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
• Corporate Communications - Working closely with all members of Kellogg’s Corporate Communications team, you’ll lead a team of three, including supervision of the Media Hotline Support. Developing internal relationships with cross-functional peers and leaders in multiple functions and regions, including other areas of Global Corporate Affairs.
• Advance Corporate Reputation - You’ll help develop and implement a proactive annual plan to help strengthen Kellogg Company’s global reputation to all internal and external audiences via a wide variety of channels in the areas of the Deploy for Growth Strategy, including our Heart & Soul work – Philanthropy, Sustainability, D&I and Wellbeing. You’ll provide direction and oversight for the global Corporate Responsibility Report, Annual Shareowners Meeting; corporate website and corporate social platforms, among other events and channels.
• Media Relations - The Associate Director promotes Kellogg Company’s global reputation in traditional and social media, and also helps to develop and implement a proactive earned media relations outreach plan. While you’re at it, you’ll prepare responses to corporate media inquiries regarding the Company as well as briefing and preparing Kellogg Company spokespersons for media interviews.
YOUR RECIPE FOR SUCCESS
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications or related discipline required with a proven ability in understanding communication principles and practices
• Extensive related experience in corporate communications
• Ability to demonstrate effective critical thinking and strategic planning skills
• Must be able to drive alignment with a variety of key customers throughout the organization including senior leaders and external vendor partners
• Ability to manage and prioritize work load and meet deadlines in a fast-paced communications function
• Experience as a people manager
• Ability to identify and analyze business and audience needs to deliver messages via the most appropriate mix of media and channels
• Experience working with journalists at top-tier publications
• Excellent communication skills, including both written and oral communications, fluent in AP Style
• Absolute ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, and possess a high level of accuracy with information
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, wire services, media monitoring software, digital and social media
Bonus Points:
• Experience in a corporate communications function in a mid- to large-size, publicly traded company
• Food industry experience
