Overview:
The Director of Technology will be responsible for leading a team of specialists involved in innovation and maintenance of our online client interface systems. The Director of Technology will set the overall Technology and development roadmap, managing resources and budgets effectively and working closely with other departments to ensure that infrastructure and development meets the commercial needs of the business.
The candidate must demonstrate a flexible, adaptable and diplomatic approach. To achieve excellence in this position, the Director of Technology must have proven experience in successful delivery – ideally in a similar industry – with ability to quickly understand the Affinion business, processes and technology components.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement the Technology Strategy for business unit.
• Accountable for reliability, performance and operation of the production system, ensuring all SLAs are met.
• Create a culture of continuous process improvement through identification of root cause and corrective actions for any production outage/incident.
• Deliver new commercial functionality in support of the business on-time, on-budget with to specified quality standards.
• Build a high performing team that can work/lead multiple projects in parallel and can predictably and reliably deliver those projects.
• Accountable for continuous reduction in the operating expense of the system and the organization.
• Improve and evolve the technical/architectural infrastructure of the system, ensuring that we maintain full support across all of our 3rd party software and hardware.
• Develop the budget each year, and execute to that budget; tracking progress month-to-month (and within month) and adjust as required to stay on budget.
• Evolve the Helix stack in concert with the overall Affinion architectural strategy; Participate in governance processes to ensure we stay in line with the overall organization.
• Accountable for ensuring all security and process certifications are met and/or exceeded.
• Manage 3rd Party suppliers and contractors to ensure effective use of resources across the business unit.
Requirements:
• 10+ years of IT leadership experience with an operational focus
• Experience managing globally distributed teams of 50+ team members (US, Europe and India preferred)
• Previous experience in a similar role in a fast paced, global company
• Proven ability to matrix manage and motivate cross functional and geographical teams
• Comfortable managing both legacy and modern technology
• Experience in leading teams in both waterfall and agile environments
• Proven track record of client engagement through project delivery
• Understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and SOA architectural models
• AWS experience required
• Successful management of large scale or multiple concurrent projects
• Demonstrable experience of Stakeholder Management
• Proven track record in the areas of time/cost estimation, risk mitigation and planning
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to understand business process and operations and apply appropriate delivery approach
• Ability to work effectively with a broad range of both internal and external customers
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work both independently and within a team
• Self starter that will take ownership of assigned tasks and drive to completion
• Self-motivated, proactive, positive, results-oriented attitude
• Flexible to travel when necessary, up to 50% initially
• Excellent written and oral communication skills demonstrating diplomacy and sensitivity to diverse business cultures
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project)
