Role Overview/Job Description: Director of Product
Execute on the strategic digital plan and framework outlined on larger projects by the VP of Product, or build the strategic plan for execution on smaller projects whereby the VP of Product is not required. Must have a keen awareness of all elements, deliverables, and specialties/resources required to build and execute on integrated, technical digital deployments. Build, inspire, and drive a team of specialists to create experiences, driving toward key objectives, goals, and KPIs. Ensure proper project plan, setup, and integration between all specialty teams (agencies, specialists, brand, IT) enabling project team to succeed. Work with PM/Producer to manage quality of product from ideation through execution and often into the support and maintenance, post-launch.
Partner with account and PM on each project to scope and staff based on digital platform strategy, technical platform requirements, integration requirements, and other digital specialty needs on the project. Provide oversight and have a deep understanding of all integrated elements of digital product strategy, execution, and all team deliverables. Collaborate with multiple project teams or departments to oversee the design and development of a range of digital deployments and/or campaigns. Lead all specialties and deliverables, ensuring integration and involvement of each specialty at the right time, on the right deliverables.
Responsible for quality assurance of all deliverables and final products. Have a deep understanding of the client’s overall business objectives and strategies and how each project fits into to their overall business strategy. Ensure the product being developed is consistently mapping toward goals and KPIs (and help build those KPIs throughout the discovery process).
Ensure that the work that is being produced is within brand guidelines, adhering to client-side IT/systems/environments, and requirements. Ensure the proper client-side digital and IT partners are involved and aware of the product deliverables throughout the project lifecycle, integrating all partners as needed throughout the project.
Ensure data insights and measurement are always at top of mind and being reviewed throughout the entirety of product development. Ensure key measurement, SEO, and insights leads are engaged throughout the correct touch points in the project.
Attend (and in some cases lead) workshops and other project review sessions to develop business requirements for projects. Communicate those requirements to the creative and technical team and ensure that solutions meet those requirements.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Must have experience working across integrated projects, notably in the digital and technology space. Must have the ability to demonstrate experience in delivering projects end-to-end, of all sizes (though experience working with big brands and design and development teams is most important).
Must be highly motivated, organized and passionate with a willingness to tackle demanding tasks and take responsibility for actions. Use initiative to make suggestions and have a strong desire to learn and to share knowledge with the broader team. Need to be flexible enough to adapt approach to different team members, helping to motivate others and inspire a positive attitude.
Must excel at managing strategy and delivery, with a keen ability to define team and project objectives including expectations and deadlines and monitor the progress of projects against targets. Must have strong oral and written communication skills that help build rapport with internal and external stakeholders on all projects. Must be a good listener, but also highly persuasive, using facts, clear arguments and personal conviction to influence and persuade others.
Must be a very strategic thinker that can create clear action plans with realistic timescales, a self-motivated individual that manages own time effectively and meets deadlines. Must maintain a customer focus, balancing the demands of a variety of customers, and taking pride in the quality of the team’s output in addition to the completion of the task.
Essential Skills & Experience Required:
• 4-6 years of experience as a product manager, technical project manager, or digital/interactive producer
• Strong technical skills – experience coding a plus
• Strong analytical skills and a love for finding patterns and actionable conclusions in key metrics data
• Strong organizational skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to influence and collaborate with teams / individuals
• Proven experience in contributing to a successful project or product in the past
• Strong client management and presentation skills
Desired Quaalifications:
• Product management experience in web-based applications and iOS/Android development space
• Knowledge of IT and MarTec systems/platforms and mobile technology
• Knowledge or interest in high-end console technologies
• Previous client-side experience would be an advantage
• BA/BS degree
