Category Management'sgoal is to accommodate as many different brands as possible in our FSI and In-Store programs, while protecting our exclusivity commitment to our clients. The exclusivity that News America provides is a guarantee to our clients that we will not run a promotion or incentive to purchase for a competing brand, taking the same category, in the same insert or cycle, in the same markets or stores.
We work closely with the Sales teams to accommodate client requests in a manner that maximizes revenue for the company and satisfies client agreements, guarantees, etc. Category Management also evaluates products to identify which category classification they would fall into, and is responsible for the creation of new categories. In addition, we handle the allocation process, which is the process of accommodating client requests for the upcoming year. We are also in charge of tracking competitive FSI inserts.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate and maximize the accommodation of In-Store and Free Standing Insert (FSI) business within the parameters set forth by the Organization.
• Capacity to analyze past and present category activity in order to project future business. Ability to partner with upper management to resolve larger issues
• Respond promptly and accurately to requests for potential orders from the sales force.
• Identify, review, and resolve any direct and indirect category conflicts
• Analyze category activity in order to make educated decisions on future business.
• Work on special projects to analyze future trends of consumer promotion and whether the company can increase client spending
• Participate in forecasting calendar year business for clients/ categories (allocations)
• Manage three coordinators, overseeing their day to day responsibilities of handling insert dates/ cycles
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree
• At least 5 years of managerial experience.
• At least 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Ability to work under pressure, multi task and think strategically using alternative ideas/ strategies.
• "Outside the box thinker."
• Ability to negotiate and work through problem situations with sales organization.
• Self-starter and deadline oriented
• Extensive use of Microsoft Excel, Salesforce.com, and the ability to adapt to customized systems.
