SUMMARY
As part of the Corporate Strategy group of a multi-billion dollar global company, the Sr. Director, Corporate Strategy helps define the company's long-term strategic plan as well as lead and manage projects and programs in support of that plan.
The initial area of responsibility is to support a multi-year, enterprise wide change initiative. The Sr. Director, Corporate Strategy helps drive the success of multiple pan-enterprise initiative teams by ensuring various projects are delivered on time and on budget and remain aligned with the strategic goals of the enterprise. Throughout the lifecycle of these projects, the Sr. Director, Corporate Strategy is responsible for making appropriate tradeoffs with project teams to identify and mitigate issues and risks. The Sr. Director, Corporate Strategy supports the leadership of each initiative to achieve business objectives.
Planning
• Develop and maintain the integrated program level plan which brings together all of the project plans across the various pan-enterprise initiatives
• Understand the key business goals and objectives and ensure alignment of work and resources to achieve the successful outcome of the entire, integrated program. Support development and maintenance of each initiative’s business and operational plans
• Work with finance to provide accurate forecasts of performance and benefits delivery to relevant business stakeholders
• Define, create and maintain project-level plans from concept through implementation
Measuring Performance
• Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement
• Ensure each initiative’s results have an articulated scope with quantifiable business benefit
• Manage each initiative’s spend and validate financial forecasts throughout the project’s lifecycle
• Partner with enterprise-wide stakeholders to define success metrics and criteria and ensure effective and efficient program delivery
Knowledge Sharing
• Develop templates, methodologies and processes to be used across projects
• Facilitate knowledge and information sharing across the various enterprise-wide initiatives to minimize the need for re-creating content
• Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency
Delivery
• Manage all aspects of the project life cycle, and work with team members to oversee all phases of project completion
• Manage scope to ensure agreed time, cost, and quality parameters are met for all projects
• Owns the integrated Risk log/plan across all pan-enterprise initiatives
• Manage multiple, complex projects through work planning, forecasting, risk management & mitigation strategies
• Help identify and solve problems that present obstacles and challenges to the team, facilitating issue resolution with senior stakeholders on a timely basis
• Ensure integration of dependencies and risks are managed effectively across projects.
Communicating
• Maintain dashboard for communication within Leadership Committee and Executive Committee
• Partner with Change Leader and the Communications team to develop and implement communication and engagement plans for key stakeholders throughout the program
• Communicate project and program progress to key constituents and ensure appropriate escalation to governance bodies and initiative leaders
• Facilitate all operational checkpoint activities throughout the project and program lifecycle
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree plus direct consulting experience or MBA
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a consulting or corporate strategy environment.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience managing teams in a variety of complex projects.
• Possess a high level of business acumen; understanding the business need for each project and the ability to drive decisions based on what is best for the enterprise
• Demonstrated experience successfully managing multiple projects within agreed to scope, schedule and budget
• Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Strong communication skills with an ability to go deep in analysis while being able to synthesize findings and make recommendations to executive leadership
• Ability to assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the organization’s best interests
• Demonstrated skills and experience in navigating in a business entity that’s new to the organization with a significant degree of complexity and a variety of dependencies
• Ability to influence, motivate, and mobilize teams and business partners
• Ability to comfortably operate in an environment with ambiguity, frequent change, and unpredictability
• Ability to effectively lead and influence in a matrixed environment, and without formal authority
• Excellent task management, organization, and team collaboration skills
• Ability to anticipate risks and devise solutions in the moment
• Proficient with Project and Management Tools. (MS Office, Visio, MS Project, PPM software, etc.)
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships to achieve the program goals
