UM - Partner, Digital Investment Director
Position Summary
The Digital Investment Director will be responsible for achieving the client’s and the agency’s objectives. The role is primarily focused on investment. The agency will look to this role to deliver our clients best-in-class digital strategies, rates, and advanced buying methods including global deals, video, social, mobile, and in-market/lifestyle display.
This role is designed to be a client partner and subject-matter expert on all things digital. Duties include but is not limited to, leading the digital investment strategy, day-to-day management of the media planning teams, and development of all digital media activities including strategy, cross-discipline communications planning. Success in this role requires the ability to use appropriate metrics and measurement strategies to communicate success in real-world terms for our clients.
The Digital Director is the subject matter expert across the agency and for client relationships. They will be passionate about all media, be well versed in developing tactics that incorporate emerging trends, and participate in creating outstanding work that results in success for our clients and UM.
Essential Functions
• Oversee development of media strategies consistent with brand marketing objectives. Recommend targeted, innovative media vehicles consistent with those media strategies to our clients.
• Lead strategic and tactical digital buying activities by providing ideas and enthusiasm for connecting media with communities, both locally and globally.
• Provide thought leadership and develop strategic direction for media buying across all digital channels
• Work with relevant vendors, media sales community and internal departments to develop unique and strategically appropriate media approaches, including the exploration of venues (sites, creative technologies, etc.) that utilize emerging technologies pertinent to our clients’ objectives.
• Will have strong connections to the industry that ensure you are on the forefront of key trends in all or most of the key areas of digital media, including but not limited to: digital brand strategy, ecommerce, search, online advertising, mobile and social.
• Insure best practices are used across department and account responsibilities.
• Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external clients
• Own and maintain strong relationships with agency partners
• Negotiate with sites
• Work with UM NY or other entities on larger buying team integrations
• Achieve audited savings goals
• Manage the audit process internally and externally
• Serve as final arbiter of media rates for UM Detroit
• Select and recommend sites based on negotiated opportunities
• Facilitate first-look opportunities
Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Work Experience:
• Ten years of digital media management experience, including digital marketing with execution of business goals yielding measurable results.
• Management experience required.
Skills:
• Strong negotiation skills and ability to meet savings goals
• Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable information.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Demonstrated ability to “see the bigger picture”.
• Superior writing, communication and presentation skills. Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to contribute individually, as well as participate in cross-functional teams.
• Experience working with senior-level clients.
• Ability to create strong working relationships
• Proficient knowledge of other media departments.
• Ability to work under dual reporting structures.
