Scripps Networks Interactive is actively seeking a Director, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis in Knoxville, TN.
The Director, Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) position serves as a key member of Finance leadership and will report to the Senior Vice President, Finance. This role will provide significant financial and operational insight to the SVP, Finance and CFO, the collective executive management team and ultimately the Board of Directors. Along with the SVP, Finance, this role oversees all aspects of consolidated financial planning and analysis for the company, and will be responsible for delivering value-added business analytics as well as generating meaningful financial and operational metrics that lead to insightful business decision-making. These responsibilities include, consolidated budgeting, forecasting (quarterly and long-range), financial and non-financial analytics, cash and investment projections.
The Director of Corporate FP&A will manage, develop and lead a financial planning organization that has a comprehensive understanding of all key business drivers and sophisticated financial models that enable the team to drive value across the company. The ideal candidate will have deep financial and operational acumen, strong communication and influencing skills at a senior level, an ability to positively collaborate across varied functions and cultures, and experience operating in a highly-matrixed global company.
Job Description:
What you will be doing:
Lead and manage a team to deliver Financial Planning, Reporting and Analytics on behalf of Scripps Networks Interactive leadership, which include the following activities:
• Support the SVP, Finance; Treasurer; CFO and senior management in their strategic decision-making by performing proactive financial analysis of International and Domestic operating performance and capital deployment
• Prepare financial reports, presentations and outlooks for management and Board of Directors
• Develop and enhance competitive intelligence, customer intelligence, geographic economic data and industry, market and segment trends.
• Manage on-going and ad-hoc reporting of consolidated historic performance, including financial results, productivity metrics, industry trends, and key operating metrics; maintain sophisticated tools/systems/routines to maximize efficiency and accuracy of information
• Drive the periodic and ad-hoc reporting and analysis of Key Performance Indicators, business trends, actual versus budget variances and comprehensive executive level explanations of differences
• Drive an efficient and effective process for developing financial plans that link to the company’s strategic objectives
• Develop and monitor the company’s annual budget and quarterly forecasts, which shall include establishing budget tools, setting timelines and acting as project manager for the company, ensuring all budgets are accurate, comprehensive and completed on time
• Coordinate closely with functional and segment CFOs and their teams to review projections, budgets and historical results, as well as set deadlines, templates, reporting requirements and global standards
• Evaluate existing reporting and data management routines and make recommendations on simplification and enhancement opportunities; lead process improvements that boost team productivity
• Actively partner with the VP of Financial Solutions to manage key finance and business process, drive improvements; recommend areas for improvement and direct initiatives to enhance the reporting and analytical processes
• Continuously enhance management reporting including revenue and cash flow reporting to provide better line-of-sight to quarterly and full-year financial results
• Exhibit flexibility and willingness to take on new responsibilities and assignments as they are identified and to assist with various ad hoc projects as needed.
• Supervise, manage and develop a staff comprising of a manager and a senior financial analyst.
• Maintain relationships with segment finance teams to ensure quality deliverables and proper and timely information flow. Lead, develop and motivate direct reports, as well as help coach wider FP&A/Finance organization
What you need to have:
BS/BA in related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of experience within business, finance, accounting, audit, treasury, CPA/CTP/CPA or an MS/MA/MBA or other related graduate degree and a minimum 5 years of experience within business leadership, finance, accounting, treasury, or investor relations roles.

• 12+ years of experience within business leadership, finance, accounting, treasury, or investor relations roles.
• Experience within a publicly held company.
• Director of Corporate FP&A preferred candidates will have demonstrated financial and business acumen in the following areas:
◦ Proven ability to interact with senior management and influence outcomes across all levels of the organization
◦ Demonstrated ability to provide strategic business support
◦ Proven experience leading a team to produce financial planning, reporting and analysis (financial and non-financial metrics)
◦ Demonstrated development and maintenance of equity and debt investment financial models with rigorous attention to detail
◦ Highly developed interpersonal, analytical and presentation capabilities
◦ Knowledge of the media industry, economic practices and accounting principles; the analysis and reporting of financial and operational data
◦ Knowledge of laws, legal codes, and regulations related to accounting and generally accepted accounting procedures and IFRS
◦ Ability to take steps to gain new perspectives from external sources
◦ Ability to balance competing priorities based on understanding of team/business needs
◦ Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness
◦ Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to act independently as well as collaboratively with team members across disciplines and organizational structures
◦ Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
◦ Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally as required
