Job Description
Our client is a premier global financial services firm and we are seeking a seasoned Executive Group Director to oversee and manage this growing business covering Group Brand and Business Unit marketing communications globally.
The key Business Unit area covers the Investment Bank category that is fast paced and moving rapidly away from traditional advertising to focusing on digital and content marketing.
For Group Brand, the Executive Group Director will play a critical role in driving the development, production and launch of new integrated communications under one unifying brand positioning/platform globally. This is an ideal opportunity to be part of the core team from the outset to help unify, shape and grow a global brand.
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
• Own key senior Client relationships: maintain and grow key senior-level client relationships; own the Clients’ business challenges and work diligently to help solve them.
• Build relationships of confidence and trust with all senior Agency personnel; leader and partner to the Agency teams - providing clarity, direction, counsel, and inspiration; ensure a cohesive and productive working relationship for the entire Agency team – fostering teamwork across departments/disciplines.
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the dynamics and workings of the Client’s business and the overall financial services industry landscape.
• Take a leadership role in understanding and uncovering Client motivations/needs.
• Seek opportunities to advance the Client relationship, generate ideas and actions that produce tangible business results for the Client and build Agency’s business.
• Advocate for the business internally, communicate overall Client vision, keeping Agency teams informed, focused, and enthused about the work and the business.
• Oversee all deliverables of the Agency teams to ensure Client expectations are being met/exceeded. Lead and manage multiple large projects ensuring successful delivery.
• Understand all key Agency resources and bring them together to produce exceptional results for the Client. Align business appropriately with the right staffing, level and capability mix. Adeptly integrate, connect, and catalyze Agency teams across multi-discipline offering, in multi-country locales to ensure strategic and executional alignment.
• Accountable for Client P&L and business growth; maintain knowledge of all performance measures and financial figures. Review monthly and quarterly financial tracking reports with Agency finance and present reports to Client.
• Attract and retain core talent – inspire and grow Agency staff; manage, coach and mentor account team members to maximum potential. Work closely with talent management team on performance reviews and goal setting for the team.
Qualifications / Skills:
• Bachelor’s degree required – business / marketing / communications or related degree preferred.
• 10+ years agency experience, including 5-7 years in supervisory role with strong background in managing and launching integrated marketing communication programs. Blue Chip client – financial services, preferably B2B - experience required.
• Excellent client-facing skills and proven leadership ability.
• Ability to work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
• Must be a team player and stellar collaborator – personable, easy to work with, experienced in managing people and adept at effectively engaging with many different personalities both internally and externally.
• Need to be resourceful, persistent and resilient – demonstrating flexibility and strong problem-solving skills to get things done despite setbacks, ambiguity and complexity.
• Ability to context switch and multi-task. This role oversees and manages multiple initiatives and priorities with various levels of complexity – the ideal candidate needs to be able to keep sight of the bigger picture at the same time paying attention to details as necessary.
