About the Consumer Practice at Edelman New York
We … are the largest consumer practice in the largest PR agency in the world. The NY Consumer practice is nearing $40MM in revenue, with 175 passionate PR practitioners doing award-winning work across personal care, retail, food and beverage, beer and spirits, brand tech, personal finance and travel. Our client roster includes some of the world’s most respected marketers, including Unilever, TJX, Church and Dwight, eBay, Starbucks, Heineken USA, and Edgewell Personal Care.

Overview of the Role
You… are a seasoned leader with a strong communications/integrated marketing background and proven track record of business-building success. As a member of the Consumer Executive Leadership Team and one of six EVPs in the practice, you will demonstrate the skills and behaviors needed to build culture, uplevel the work we do for clients, help expand our collective capability and drive revenue growth. You are a big-picture thinker, but also able to turn big ideas into action. You demonstrate superior communication skills, charisma and executive presence. You are hungry to learn and evolve personally, and undaunted by change or complexity. You will report to the Managing Director of the NY Consumer practice, and work in close partnership with the rest of the practice leadership team
Client Focus
Your initial client focus will be oversight of a blue-chip retail client and the second-largest client in the practice. Your leadership role includes oversight and growth of a $4MM+ relationship that spans three brands, each with integrated account teams including planning, social/digital, creative and earned media. There will be 20 staffers in your reporting line, with two SVP direct reports.
Core Responsibilities
• Build strong, trusting relationships with clients as the senior client contact on your businesses*
• Inspire, coach, motivate and manage large teams (15+)
• Bring an integrated marketing mindset to your teams and to your colleagues
• Ensure your team’s client programs reflect the breadth of the Edelman Communications Marketing approach: earned-centric; social by design; informed, optimized and measured by data; brought to life with stunning creative.
• Address client issues thoughtfully, creatively and effectively Contribute to the strategy and culture-building of the practice as a member of the Consumer Executive Leadership Team.
• Evaluate campaign results against objectives
• Assist in driving organic growth; participate in new business efforts in your sector/area of expertise
• Actively manage profitability and staff utilization; ensure your SVPs and VPs are stewards of their client budgets to limit write-offs and other debt
Qualifications
• At least 15 years of experience in the marketing/PR agency world, with track record of senior leadership success
• Experience leading retail accounts; fashion/home/accessories category experience preferred but not mandatory
• Experienced client relationship leader who can be senior-level counselor to senior marketing clients/CMOs
• Experience at identifying client business problems and building integrated teams to provide a solution, including new Edelman tools, products or methodologies
• Track record of leadership success within an integrated agency team setting
• Demonstrated ability to nurture the professional and personal development of staff, with a “people-first” orientation
• Proven track record of success growing business (organic and new)
• Proven ability to think high-level as well as tactically: you are as comfortable defining a business strategy as you are a creative programming concept
• Entrepreneurial spirit balanced with the ability to function comfortably within a complex, matrixed organization
• Strong operational skills, ability to oversee efficient staff utilization, account profitability and annual budget planning
• Collegial, collaborative style; ability build relationships at all levels of seniority (internally and externally)
• Polished executive presence and inspiring, inclusive leadership style
