Position :Writer – CTV News Toronto
Location:9 Channel Nine Court, Toronto
Salary:News Division Group 3 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience)
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to CTV Toronto’s local newscasts by writing scripts for on-camera,
• voice-overs, and intros to reports
• Monitor News feeds, select news footage and isolate sound clips
• Supervise editing of reports and voice over packages
• Vet reporter’s scripts and advise on other aspects of reports
• Attend News meetings and present story ideas
• Various editorial and newsroom tasks as required by Producers
Qualifications:
• Broadcast or Journalism degree
• Excellent knowledge of domestic and international news and current affairs
• At least three years experience in broadcast writing
• Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines of several simultaneous duties, while maintaining focus and composure
• Proven ability to marry picture and sound
• Excellent communication skills – both oral and written
• Ability to work in a team, and be self motivated
• French or other language skills an asset
• Newscast line-up skills an asset
• Previous show producing an asset
Working Conditions:
• 40 hours per week
• Scheduled shifts
