DESCRIPTION:
Company Radio seeks a VP of Social Media to lead all strategy and execution for social publishing, program development, marketing and partnerships for all of the company’s assets including 117 radio stations, several digital publishing brands, and hundreds of live events across its 26 markets. This position will lead a multi-market, data-driven approach towards social publishing, distribution, and marketing activities, with a focus on alignment of efforts to editorial, audience development, community management, sales, and marketing goals and objectives. Candidate should have extensive experience with social media platforms and a thorough understanding of best practices, along with a demonstrated ability to build and manage large cross-functional teams deployed across multiple locations and genres. The VP will report directly to the EVP of Digital, and will also be a key member of the leadership team responsible for developing and deploying Company Radio’s digital strategy. Above all, the VP will be responsible for growth.
A steward of the brands and their audiences, the VP of Social Media helps aggressively grow our audience across social networks, connecting readers/listeners/viewers with our talent and content across all platforms, engaging them in conversation, driving loyalty and growth. This position requires extensive experience using analytics to track audience growth and engagement across social platforms to demonstrate ROI. This person will also manage the company’s relationships with major social media companies and emerging platform partners, and must stay on top of social platform and product trends to make ongoing recommendations to product, programming, sales, BD, legal, PR and marketing teams.
Responsibilities:
• Establish and manage a cross-functional social structure across 26 markets and multiple editorial & publishing teams.
• Guide social strategy, ideation and activation for company-wide sales initiatives (both local and national)
• Work with marketing leadership to develop strategy, creative, and media mix for paid social activations across all brands and channels as needed.
• Develop social strategy for our large live events business
• Introduce analytical rigor to our social and audience development processes, developing a deep understanding of the reader/listener/viewer and their use of emerging platforms and content consumption habits. Includes working across various internal teams to select and implement deployment, listening, and reporting tools as needed.
• Guide editorial teams, providing feedback and data on what’s working on social, how audiences are responding, and identifying segments with opportunity for growth.
• Develop and implement appropriate policies and guidelines for content development, publishing, and community management on social platforms across the company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Background in real-time information/media in a digital environment with strong professional experience in social media is required
• Prior management of third-party vendors/suppliers required
• 10+ years developing & managing digital media, paid search, social and branded content recommendations for a major media company, newsroom experience a plus. Experience hiring and managing distributed teams required.
• Knowledge of common CMS’s, PhotoShop and HTML
• Position is New York based. Occasional travel may be needed
