Department Description:
The Company Business Development team is responsible for the company’s global strategic initiatives, focusing on the digital business and including audio and video downloads, streaming, mobile, social targeted services, and new music formats. The team evaluates and implements licensing models and partnership structures for the digital entertainment marketplace and develops strategies which help to sustain WMG’s growth in this segment.
High Level Job Description:The Vice President will play an integral part on WMG’s business development team, with a focus on new business opportunities and strategic alliances that advance WMG’s Global digital Strategy in emerging categories.
Detailed Job Description/ Responsibilities:
• Originate, evaluate, negotiate and structure new deals and potential strategic alliances that advance WMG’s global digital strategy
• Maintain significant and complex strategic relationships with global partners in relation to digital platforms
• Negotiate new deals and drive business partnerships in the emerging technology and new social media space.
• Present opportunities/outcomes/recommendations to senior management
• Attend international business conferences to source new opportunities
• Work closely and cross functionally on strategic planning initiatives and deal execution deployment plans with Business Units, Finance and Sales and Distribution
• Assess and evaluate marketplace conditions, competitive strategies and user data to both anticipate market dynamics and proactively recommend strategies that support business objectives
• Provide thought leadership on new initiatives, business cases and projects that relate to WMG’s global strategic planning and business development activities
Required Competencies/Skills:
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to manage multiple projects
• Strong understanding of major new media platforms and businesses, and emerging technology trends
• Foreign language skills preferred, but not required
• Strong negotiations skills
• Microsoft Office Suite
Education Required/Preferred:
• 10+ years global investment bank, top-tier management consultancy, or media company experience
• Bachelor's Degree
