Vice President, Finance and Business Development, Culture
Collection
The Vice President, Finance and Business Development will report to the Senior Vice President of Finance. They will provide both financial and operational support for their brand collection. They will also partner with the Chief Business Officer and Editor in Chief of their brand collection on business development initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
• Develop annual budgets and quarterly forecasts through collaboration with, senior brand management and centralized departments.
• Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; and keep the senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.
• Responsible for managing the overall P&L for the collection, including the monthly reconciliations.
• Partner with our corporate consolidations team on month-end accounting closes, updating financial models and investigating and reporting budget variances.
• Identify, investigate, analyze and communicate the risks and opportunities impacting the business.
• Support business development and brand building strategies by forecasting and assessing the financial impact of key decisions.
• Develop strong relationships with various departments and businesses; including senior level management.
• Manage a department of 8-10 employees that oversees both the revenue and editorial sides of the business.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
• B.S. degree in accounting or finance required. MBA or CPA highly desired.
• At least 10 years of related experience required.
• Ability to interpret and synthesize financial data and present in an accurate, concise, digestible and actionable manner.
• Excellent analytical skills and detail oriented with strong problem solving skills and follow through.
• Ability to work well with all levels of staff, prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous projects and perform under tight deadline.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of stakeholders.
• Experience in media industry, knowledge of cross-platform media preferred.
