We are seeking a General Manager/CPG Leader to head our office in Los Angeles, CA. The Role:
Under the general supervision of the agency’s Senior Vice President of Operations, this position helps to collaboratively develop and execute against a CPG specific agency business plan and provides overall leadership and guidance to their teams. This position directs integrated teams in the planning, recommending and implementing of proactive and strategic marketing communication initiatives for agency clients. This position is responsible for the overall profitability of the business unit, responsible for driving the revenue growth, and for working with existing clients to connect to their customers successfully and develop organic opportunities for agency work. This position is also responsible for the operations of our LA office. This includes the professional development, management and mentorship of the Account staff based in that office.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
Client Strategist and Leader
• Provides leadership and direction to integrated teams in planning and developing programs and services which are consistent with the client’s mission and strategic plans.
• Ensures proper fiscal management of client’s budget. Has overall accountability for the development, management and evaluation of operating budget, and for achieving objectives while operating within budgeted expense targets.
• Ensures that the client and agency complies with all copyright laws, confidentiality issues and ethical standards within the profession and leads the team in a way consistent with the Company Way.
Personnel Management and Development
• Responsible for management of the account staff based in the LA office. This includes but is not limited to management of staff in the achievement of goals and objectives that align with the overall agency vision. Monitors team member’s progress prepares performance reviews for account managers. Day-to-day mentorship and management of staff and stewardship of an office culture characterized by empathy, listening and open communication.
New Business Development
• Collaboratively works to define and execute against a CPG specific agency business plan
• Responsible for cultivating organic growth opportunities with existing clients and assisting Business Unit leaders in their growth efforts
• Works with new business team to define and manage ongoing new business efforts in the west coast. Accountable for developing and managing a proactive market growth strategy.
Administrative
• Responsible for the day-to-day running of the LA office and all activities to ensure smooth and constant operations of that office
• Reviews and approves expense reports, PTO requests and schedules and training requests for account team members.
• Represents agency in various professional societies or other associations deemed appropriate by President.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Position requires exceptional oral and written communication skills and knowledge of creative, digital, social and public relations strategies, techniques and procedures in order to manage marketing campaigns or projects. A bachelor’s degree in mass communications, public relations, English, journalism or a closely related field is required. Masters degree is preferred.
Work requires strategic knowledge of marketing, digital, social and public relations strategies and evaluation techniques, and skills necessary to deal effectively with clients – normally acquired through 8 to 10 years of progressively more responsible work experience. Agency experience is a must have.
Work requires interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a variety of influential internal, external, client, industry, government and community personnel, to represent clients to various groups, and to lead, direct and mentor subordinate staff.
Position requires problem solving and conceptual skills to recommend approaches and methods; to plan, coordinate, and evaluate campaigns or projects; to prepare reports and analyses; to project trends and developments in the field; and to recommend short-term and long-range goals and strategies based on such.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the SVP of Operations
