The ideal candidate is passionate about video, has a background in journalism and knows how to apply those skills to user-created content. We need the kind of person who can pick out the one baby video out of a million that has “it”, is obsessed with being the first to find the buzziest videos, and knows which social platform is best to find just the right clip – from Vine to Instagram to YouTube, Vimeo and beyond. You should have excellent editorial judgment about what videos will work for the voice and style of different sites and platforms and can tell a scrape from the original. This position will focus primarily on identifying and licensing video of strategic interest and high value to our licensing efforts, clients and partners. The role also involves work to acquire viral videos outside of targeted areas.
Responsibilities
Developing new searches, workflows and targeted discovery to focus on videos of high value to partners and brands
Discovering and verifying videos along specific verticals and per client demands
Labeling and prioritizing videos which may be of high value or need to be re-checked
Identifying original sources and initiating outreach to uploaders, including tracking down multiple contact details for content creators
Engaging in customer service with clients and content creators
Writing and editing concise and accurate copy to publish both internally and on public platforms
Alerting partners to high-value content in a quick and efficient manner, delivering vertical-focused content regularly in newsletters
Working on bespoke clearing-house projects or one-off requests from clients
Working with team to identify priorities and opportunities around seasons, brands, or events, and setting up discovery around those needs
Working to deadlines and set metrics targets
Requirements
A master of social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Tumblr, Vine, Instagram, SnapChat and other emerging platforms
Ability to find, source and verify original videos from across social
Be flexible to shift between targeted searches and more lighthearted or viral videos when needed
A fluid, natural communicator who has experience writing and copyediting for online publications and social platforms
Video-editing skills are an advantage
Experience working with YouTube’s platform strongly preferred
Skills in foreign languages a plus
