Job Description:
Video is an integral and growing part of our journalism. Our senior editors use video to explain and bring to life carefully selected stories and events in ways that words alone cannot convey. Our approach to video has the user – or viewer – front and center. The duration and editing of our programming offers distinct coverage and ease of consumption for customers at home, in the office or on the move.
This is a key operational role that is based in the heart of the editorial floor working to deliver growth to the video audience. You will work with editors across the global organization to ensure proper metrics are tracked across multiple ongoing initiatives.
The Video Audience Development Associate will:
• Collaborate with the Editorial Audience Development and Video teams to deliver traffic driving initiatives and digital best practices to video and newsroom leadership.
• Help to align and communicate between business units to achieve video audience growth (including Editorial, Product, Data, Mobile, Partnerships, and more).
• Pull, analyze and action against data for audience growth and engagement, act as a partner in data strategy, and collaborate with other business units on data analysis as needed.
• Closely collaborate with the Social Team to drive traffic from social sites and continue to innovate within WSJ social and emerging media products.
• Work with Mobile and Product teams to improve display and engagement on mobile and other platforms to help drive mobile video traffic.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Experience working within an audience development team for a digital publisher, with experience managing traffic-driving projects.
• Experience working specifically with video as a product or within a video team a major plus.
• Experience working alongside large editorial, product, and business teams in a pressurised environment.
• Experience with data analysis and a strong familiarity with analytics programs such as Omniture, Company website, Chartbeart, etc.
• Demonstrated expertise in engagement and video across all social platforms (Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.).
• Comfortable analyzing and presenting data to stakeholders and actioning against data analysis to increase traffic.
• Knowledge of all acquisition channels (SEO, social media, direct, emails, etc.)
• Personable, flexible, and able to work under pressure.
• Passionate about the media business and the core goals of WSJ and Company.
