Job purpose
The [VP] of Strategy & Planning for the Global People function is responsible for facilitating the strategic planning process and managing the People Agenda to support Company’s goal to attract, retain and grow best-in-class people. This person designs and facilitates the implementation of the People Agenda strategy and programs; positions, markets and communicates the People Agenda strategy internally and externally; and leads global people projects as defined by the CPO.
This person is an integral member of the Global People team, working end to end across all aspects of the CPO’s agenda. Drive the creation of Company’s People strategy, and the delivery of the plan/roadmap as well as managing the communication of the strategy to key stakeholder groups.
This role is responsible for ensuring that the CPO has the content, data and insight required to operate in a fast changing, complex and dynamic environment. To act as a trusted adviser, challenger and sounding board, and use their organizational skills to enable the CPO to be effective in role.
This role needs to liaise with the CPO's peer group, People leadership team (PLT), and key employees throughout the organization, to facilitate alignment and engagement, and to ensure delivery of key priorities. The role holder will be required to keep a keen eye on the moving parts and ensure that there is strong alignment across the business on key elements of the plan.
Key Accountabilities
Global People Strategy
• Partnering with the CPO and PLT to set and execute the Global People Agenda, roadmap and KPIs; monitoring the efficacy of the strategy, and refining the strategy and/or positioning of that strategy as needed
• Working alongside the CPO and the PLT, leading in setting the Global People Agenda and assist in driving execution of key initiatives, and shape the design of strategy and event planning
• Scanning the Company environment to assess current and future HR needs and requirements across the business seeking opportunities for continued alignment and efficiencies, facilitating implementation
• Actively monitoring the external environment (the industry, our competitors and the global future trends), and using internal knowledge, networks and relationships, in order to raise topics that require the CPO’s attention, and ensure that the CPO has an “ear to the ground"
Planning and Program Management
• Managing all global data & insights related to the Global People function and workforce, responsible for executive level reporting
• Overseeing program management for the Global People function, including reporting, meeting management, escalation of risks/issues and global tracking of activity
• Manage the agenda and attendees for key meeting chaired by the CPO e.g. PLT and PAAT meetings
• Facilitating meeting effectiveness by following up on action items, and providing timely updates, insights and challenges for PLT and PAAT meetings, and other key meetings led by the CPO
End to End Management of cost
• Acting as the primary liaison between CPO and Finance organization to establish a Central and end-to-end budget and business case, in line with business demands and budget constraints; and ongoing management of the budget and adaptations as needed
• Providing timely and accurate insight to the CPO on business performance and strategic planning using external data and internal budgets, LRP packs, CAR and CIC reports and business plans
• Lead the budget review process, working end to end across the Global People function
Stakeholder Management and Communications
• Designing, coordinating and ensuring production of CPO personal and functional communications including reports, presentations, and speeches working in partnership with relevant experts internally and externally.
• Accountable for the preparation of presentations and communications for Company Executive Leadership Team meetings and CPO meetings, liaising with key internal stakeholders to source the required inputs and data in an accurate and timely way.
• Lead in preparation and presentations of board level materials for ELT, PAAT and other critical meetings
CPO Agenda and Ad-hoc Projects
• Provide pre-decision evaluation of key initiatives, papers, and communications to enable the CPO to make swifter, better informed decisions and be well prepared
• Representing the CPO to develop, lead and manage key projects
• Acting as a trusted adviser, challenger and sounding board for the CPO, providing constructive feedback on effectiveness and impact of the CPO and the wider People team
• Ensure the CPO has the resource, support and information to deal with immediate pressures on issues and crisis situations.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
• High intellect. The ability to think strategically, analytically, creatively, and be innovative, yet practical. Intellectual confidence and toughness, coupled with the ability to ‘think on their feet’ and influence at the highest level
• Strong functional HR knowledge; brings expertise and high standards to the function. Brings credibility, gravitas and impact to be able to act a CPO designate as required
• Strong business knowledge, experience and acumen. Demonstrates an understanding of all business areas and able to relate how the HR function can deliver the business strategy.
• Able to work autonomously, navigating and influencing across a complex matrix at a senior level across a global footprint.
• Strong leadership skills. The ability to collaborate and influence in 360 degrees (both up and down organizationally and with peers across teams and geographies), and at the highest level with the Group CEO and Executive Leadership Team
• Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills. Ability to take very complex information and distill into a simple story that can easily be understood by a global, diverse audience
• Ability to make decisions, use independent judgment, establish priorities, and work effectively on multiple initiatives.
• High analytical capabilities; understands and can read complex financial data
• Superior project management and team building skills. The ability to have strong orientation towards execution and implementation.
• Highly collaborative. The ability to communicate ideas and plans throughout the HR organization, creating “buy-in” on new strategies and programs.

Qualifications:
• MBA preferred or relevant business/HR qualification
• 8-10+ years experience working in a strategic role in multi-national, complex organizations.
